IDEAS?
1. Stop using plastic bags and disposable cup/bottles, and bring your own reusable cloth bags and metal drinking container.
2. Plug EVERYTHING into power strips so you can SHUT THEM OFF when you aren't using your electronics.
3. Ride a bike/take public transport when possible.
4. If you can afford it, get energy star and other efficient appliances.
5. Get a better, more economical car.
6. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES: 202-224-3121 tell them to support the iCap bill: http://markey.house.gov/docs/energy_environment/icap_st...

I was really happy to see that one of my local grocery stores started selling (literally) green canvas bags. Next time I'm up there I'll get more info on the supplier. It would be great if we could convince more stores to do the same, as it would bump up the convenience factor for people who might not think of this stuff until it's right in front of their faces.

Yes! They now have them at my local grocery and they're only $.99 each. Add a few to your grocery total, put your groceries in and you're set. So glad so see this.

Thanks for the Post! Education and Action towards better solutions is King!

It's nice to see suggestions to help out the planet rather than just ranting about changes that need to be made without the suggestion

I'm surprised they aren't talking more about LEDs.

response:
LEDs are very good, but still very expensive.
Everyone who can, should switch to them.
If you opt for CFL ("energy bulbs") PLEASE recycle them. They are great, but contain mercury which can and WILL seep into the water table if thrown away into the garbage. Please pass it on! THANK YOU! -

Thanks for the OP. It's past time we start living Green. I want so bad to be entirely off the grid.

BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT! No offense people, but when a leg is cut off, placing a band aid on it, will make you feel better, but will not help!
I'm talking about exponential population growth! #1 issue!-
