Children raped by American soldiers in front of their mothers - Pentagon has tapes

Image...
From Daily Kos' partial transcript of a video (link to REAL stream) of Seymour Hersh speaking at an ACLU event. He says the US government has videotapes of children being raped at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

" Some of the worst things that happened you don't know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib ... The women were passing messages out saying 'Please come and kill me, because of what's happened' and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It's going to come out."

Link (via Warren). There's also a piece worth reading in this week's Newsweek about new allegations of rape and sexual torture at Abu Ghraib. Feature includes details on the identities of the Iraqi prisoners shown in those widely-circulated photographs -- including Satar Jabar (charged with carjacking, not terrorism), whose iconic hooded figure with wires attached is derisively described by many Iraqis as the "Statue of Liberty."

I have been reading this book called "Recipe for Extinction" written by John Kaminski, a political essayist who has been writing on the Internet for some time.

I found this story from his book and it is extremely shocking. I cannot imagine the terror and horror that these mothers must have gone through watching their children brutalized in front of their noses.

To think that our government, George and Donald and Dick, the three little pigs that were responsible for the ongoing license to torture have done indescribable things in our names. This is unconscionable.

And it makes me sick to think that so many people still want to be in denial about the cruelty with which this Administration has waged this war. We need to face up to the facts, we need to make right was made very wrong indeed.

These sick bastards need to be publically busted and sent to rot in prison. I'll never tire of stating this until it's a done deal.

They use children in war. I cannot totally sympathize with the beating of the children but if they are being rapped that's a totally different story. If that is true.

I cannot stress enough how THIS war isn't the only BAD war. All war is bad. Period. It doesn't matter if it's the holy war of WWI or WWII, it does the same thing to men. It tears them up inside and causes them to be people they were never meant to be.

War has no winners. There are lots and lots of losers.

If the children already understand, they are very lucky.... i am old... already 33 years old.... i am known as weak and a lame.... i am a coward.... children already know how to fight... they already understand that their life is in danger... in their country, their parents help them in fighting.... here, my kins are nonsense... they said they are helpful even the politicians but they are the one who abused and sabotage me... the said lies.... all lies because of the money they will stole in the fund of foreign companies and foreign funds....

I wish that i am that child who already know how to fight and know how to use guns even in killing those politicians that abused me even to my friends that forces them to sell drugs and sell their body.

    This is disgusting!
Bush's systematic torturing of soldiers has ended up in them torturing small children.
I have not even had the courage to watch the video yet but I will.

I think that you and I are not monsters Marilynn. But put in severe circumstances like the troops are..we ..might even do that, who knows. They are also being given drug cocktails that can help to put them over the edge and no moral support.

Sometimes I feel like readers ar Current must think I have ADD to keep posting the same link but I know in my gut that the drugs we are giving ourselves and our troops are at least a major factor for violence..I have seen its effects with my own eyes...how it turns a normal person into a monster..a child into hysterical fits of rage.. just from allergy and cold medication. This sounds ridiculous but it's true.

Also another report posted on Current recently made it to the top and told of how we are drugging our troops...I will post those too.

These children will never recover from this...it's tragic...those poor mothers..poor kids...their whole families will be affected, depressed forever.

Bush you FA.you did this with your swagger and your arrogant lies......to these poor people and to us. You and your friends deserve anything you get.

I beg you to take the time to read these patient comments wholeheartedly to see how bad they are alone..then imagine them in a drug cocktail with others just as bad..then lack of sleep, multiple deployments and we have a monster from a once good hearted and stable young soldier.

Heart wrenching videos - - all of this suffering brought on by the Bush administration and based on lies. And we wonder why we're hated? We cannot ignore this, we must insist that those responsible are prosecuted to the fullest.

Yes, I think drugs are involved. Three tours of duty, and sending young kids over there in the first place is another reason. I don't know how prevalent it is, and I don't want to know. I have read about it before, and I'm certain that yes, it does happen. Remember it was even in the news when a bunch of our troops gang raped a fourteen year old girl and then killed the whole family, and there was the reports of little boys being raped in the damned torture chamber prison. It has to do with making people crazy with the damned war.

That's so horrible, that children have to suffer like that.

  •

No other way to describe it, war is hell. I am glad the Pentagon has tapes of such "alleged" abuses, so the soldiers and officers in charge can be properly punished.

This is part and parcel of Bush's policies and directives on torture. He has allowed and encouraged the rape and torture of children. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets his jollies watching videos of such.

Absolutely disgusting. Could you imagine just for a second, having wars on our own soil? Can you imagine men and women with large guns barging into your homes while you cower in a corner with your children crying? Can you imagine these men snatching up your children and raping them in front of you? Your neighborhood being blown up, a mere skeleton of what it once was?

Sometimes I wish we did have wars on American soil because sometimes it feels like Iraq and other countries can be so far away for our citizens and the news of these horrible actions done by our own soldiers don't often make the front pages of our newspapers. It's time for us to realize the pain we are causing in Iraq and to realize that we just don't need to pull out because of us, because OUR family members and friends are dying and suffering but because THEIR families and friends are dying and suffering.

This is so sad... if i remember correctly according to Panorama last night about Iraq's lost millions no one has been prosecuted over the Abu Graib incidents.... and by the way the new US-Iraq deal if it goes ahead (God forbid) it would grant immunity to them so they cant get prosecuted (if ive understood correctly).

I seriously doubt the credibilty of this story. Look at the author and the source. Neither of which seem credible. I support the US Troops in all of their endeavors and strongly support the effort to rebuild Iraq.

mjsmith11, considering the fact that Seymour Hersh - the most credible source of all - has said as much, your doubts are misplaced.
