Every decade, monumental struggles for social change finally tip in favor of the public interest. We’ve seen the relief of a 40-hour work week, the long-awaited arrival of women’s right to vote, and the even longer fight to end segregation.
This decade it's to reform our broken media system, and to stop heavy-handed corporate control of what Americans read, watch and hear.

"The newly-relaxed rules will open the door for a single entity to own both a newspaper and a television or radio station in the same market.
FCC Chair and Bush appointee Kevin Martin, a conservative who is leading the agency's move toward deregulation, claimed that this is a "relatively minimal loosening of the ban," because it supposedly will affect only the top 20 U.S. cities, where competition is assumed to be thriving."
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,You got laugh at the reasoning of the FCC and MR Martin that it is not a prob because it will only really affect the top 20 US cities. -

Welcome to the New World Order my friends. Corporate Media is just a part of it.
We already know they are playing us for fools. The question is, are we just going to sit there and take it, or are we going to do something about it? -
who is "we" ? who is "us" ? obviously , lot's of peeps love what corporate media pushes . i don't feel obligated to care about the psycho-spiritual welfare of anyone dumb enough to go for corporate BS to begin with . am i supposed to be a better "patriot" if i do care ? as far as i'm concerned , whoever eats this shit up deserves it , but then i am , unapologetically , an elitist , and i earned the title by fighting to get conscious .

we need more underground news sources (like current and therealnews.com) to be able to reach a wider audience. the only way to combat corporate media is to offer other outlets and news sources to the American people. the corporate media also need to pull their respected heads out of each others asses . . . . but that wont happen!

It only "controls" the sheeple..
-
That's why I watch LINK TV, Current TV, and get my news online from a variety of non-corporate owned media. I choose to not be a sheep, thanks. Guess what? You can too!
-
.. very broken and powerful media system

I'm not sure I understand your thinking Malathion.
If it were not for the efforts of the "conscious patriots" of USA's past, the Republic of the United States of America may not be a Republic at all. The freedom you boast about may not be yours today if they had adopted your line of thinking. It's your constitutional right (unless the President doesn't like your tone) to your opinion. It doesn't make you less of an American to not care about your fellow man, just less human. Then again, isn't that the core definition of an "elitist: less than human"?
"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
-George Washington (A patriot that cared) -
I think that there always going to be a control over the people through the Media. However, This is not the question! The real issue lurks towards the ethical rule and direction of this controlling force raising the question if this control force is there to teach or to manipulate public opinion in harmful directions.
Example: The War. -
We will lose this struggle, just like how we're going to lose the struggle against the NWO in the upcoming decade. America has so many lazy people that are so apathetic and brainwashed, that it's not even funny.

Here's a radical Idea, and I am just suggesting this as "food for thought".
Mandatory service after high school graduation for 2 years. Not necessarily Military, but any variety of service: Peace Corps, Freedom Corps, State Department Internships, Public Service, Civil Construction. Funnel the young adults through service programs, make it flexible to their desires, and give them some perspective before they go toast their noodles at college. -
here is an idea, if you want to send cnn, fox, nbc, ect a message, STOP WATCHING THEM, TURN IT OFF, SEND A MESSAGE THAT THEY CANNOT IGNORE RATINGS ARE EVERYTHING IN THE NEWS MEDIA. AND THIS INCLUDES YOUR LOCAL STATIONS. YES ITS HARD BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE HEARD ON THIS MATTER, TUNE OUT!!!

My biggest gripe.........Fox Sports..........I hate that so much! I don't want ANYTHING to do with Fox. Because all they do is get more and more power! The more to take over ALL the news media!
