Airport security can now see ALL your 'goods'

The US Transportation Security Administration expects that 30 unrobing security scanners will be installed in US airports by the end of 2008.

These scanners use 'millimeter waves' that can pierce through clothing to see suspicious objects like metals and plastics on people's bodies; the only catch is that this renders the traveler completely nude with full view of genitals, but a blurring of the face.

Many activists say that these 'graphic' images should not be a security measure as it greatly invades privacy.

The TSA argues that the images rendered by the machines are immediately disposed of after viewing and can in no way be transmitted anywhere, stored, or printed. The TSA also says that these scanners are merely an efficient (a scan takes about three seconds) alternative to body-patting.

I don't know about you, but I'm not ashamed of my junk. In any case, I'd still opt for a pat-down; they're way more fun.

  • I'm in no way shy, but I also don't want random people who passed some written test to be examining me naked as fly in and out of Atlanta.
