Sorry, Mr. President, but your legacy is more awful than you think

Rest assured, Mr. President, that despite what you told the Times Online today you won't be remembered solely as a war mongering president.

"Look, I think that in retrospect, you know, I could have used a different tone."

Different tone? Ya think?

War mongering is a significant aspect of your legacy, but I think we can conclude, and without much debate, that your legacy will also be one of criminality, failure and a degree of incompetence rarely achieved by any American president, much less one whose deficit of character is rivaled only by his nearly unprecedented lack of humility in the face of his unprecedented roster of inadequacies.

Sorry.

  • Preaching to the converted....
It has been an awful eight years..., the first appointed president in history and a more than flakey reelection in 2004.
And worse than that everyone clinging to Barack Obama as if he were Bobby Kennedy and MLK reincarnated...
    I don't believe anymore... I wish I could.

  • the sheer egotism, lack of accountability, and cultural myopia of previous generations has paved the way for the troubles we are experiencing today. this the culture of the usa or at least has become so from the lowest levels of everyday culture to the gov't that is supposedly there to represent us and uphold the supposed liberties and freedoms we have been told we possess in this nation since birth. we have regressed as a nation and i have little doubt that it will cease anytime soon. it has become the new standard.

  • All because it is money that runs for office these days...
No longer may a man run because he has a plan and experience and is well respected. I'm tired of our party system.... Democrats and Republicans must cease to exist... it limits the progress of our nation with constant quibbles and disagreements.

  • Bush makes some of the US's previously awful Presidents (Harrison and Andrew Jackson) look like angels. Trust me, that is very hard to do. They were scum and did a lot of damage themselves to the US.

  • We all seem to forget that he was the man who led America after the September 11 attacks. He did a wonderful job at leading the country and bringing us together through that tough time.

  • Very well said bigchuck.
    Wreyeter
  • He led America for sure. Right down the road to ruin. To even think this scum bad has done anything for the betterment of America or its people is absurd. This man is evil to the fullest extent and should be remembered as the impeached and imprisoned president. I still have hope he will be punished by the law for all the killing and greed he has been responsible for. Impeach and Imprison NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He'll be remembered for being a shallow, vain liar who's lack of integrity has made him the ideal shill for greedy corporate interests.

  • History will have a different story to tell than the negative that just dribbles out of people's mouth because now it's considered cool to be so hateful.

Two wrongs in no way make a right.

  • ok, if you think he's worth defending, then give us a list of things he actually did as president that we can be thankful for.

I'm betting you'll immediately fall back on the post 9-11 days, which is a stretch, but the best you'll be able to come up with, and the rest of the list will probably be even more delusional than that.

  • Bush was least ran the state of Texas with out major issues. What happened on 9/11 would be very tough on any president.

Imagine what a future president with "no experience in running any government agency or passing any laws will do?

But, Mr. OBAMANATION does talk nice................

  • It's not about defending him.

I don't trust people who only spew hate. They are the least trustworthy type people.

  • We don't need to bash him anymore, we already know hes a miserable failure. Lets just move on to the next guy.

  • mccain is right there is gross ignorance and stupidity. In addition to these attributes the Busheney gang, mccain and Lie-berman share is only paled by their incredible arrogance and absence of normal common sense, morality, consideration of others, law, our Constitution, the United States. But, even that is paled by their devotion to Israel and self enrichment.

  • Wow voyager, that is a mouthful! Think that you could handle things so much better than McCain? He is the guy who has to follow Bush, do you really think that he likes bush? and he at least does vote on the issues and not 'present' like that punk Obama! I guess you are all pro-Obama. Might want to read his webpage a little more carefully before saying someone doesn't now the Constitution, there is a lot on there that he promises that are not quite within the executive branches power, but then I am sure that he has decided that he doesn't have to follow those rules either, he can take delegates for a state where NO ONE voted for him, so why should any other rules apply to him either? I am not pro-McCain, but if I have to choose, NOBAMA for me, he hasn't got the ability to lead in tough times, I doubt he really knows any, just because he is black doesn't mean that he knows what it is like to go hungry. But everyone can go ahead and act like he is the messiah, I will cling to my "guns and religion" and just remember there was a foretelling of an anti-Christ that everyone would 'love'

  • There is no doubt that GWB will go down as the worst president in American History.

  • War monger? NO! War CRIMINAL!
  • Beware! Not only will it be Bu$h's legacy, it will be the U.S.A.'s legacy. These past eight years will be known around the globe as a Dark Time for the U.S.!

Maybe, just maybe, there is redemption ahead.

  • Historians know more information than the common man. They'll decide how he's remembered.

The rest of you will not have any say.

  • Bush has managed to make Nixon look good.
He lied us into an illegal war that has cost thousands of innocent lives.

He ruined our global reputation, the rest of the world thinks we are bullies doesn't like or trust us.

He has plunged us into more debt that ALL the other presidents put together. We are very nearly bankrupt and owe a communist country, China billions.

He now wants to bomb Iran. That will be the start of WW III. Meaning the bombs will start falling on our cities killing our children.

History won't judge him, there will be no history.
  • When people recall the Bush Administration they will think illegal war, torture, corruption, waste, law breaker, Katrina, puppet, illegal spying and 9/11. Short of throwing himself on a grenade to protect babies in incubators, there is little he can do that will redeem his image.

  • The interesting part of Bush's presidency will be how he is handled post-presidency. Most modern presidents are revered even if unpopular (Carter, Nixon); somehow, that doesn't seem likely for Bush II...

  • what amazes me frankly is that so many see the damage mr. bush has done and yet so few support defending our constitution and national honor by beginning impeachment hearings immediately. i think frankly unless you put your signature where your mouth is you are just being cool. but anyone who would defend hitler er i mean mr. bush is being naively patriotic. patriotism does not mean blind faith. open your eyes. support your great nation. dont just talk. act.

  • This man is the most hated man in the world and he has earned it all. Unlike presidents in the past, he can't hide from the internet. His history is already written on you tube which will be viewed more than any history book ever will.

  • You go perry8331. When we awoke on 911 my mother met me in the hall and sobbing embraced me. When our Pres. spoke the words he did, I wouldn't have traded the U.S. mint for him and I still won't. Go ahead and make that 30.1% another poll that is hogwash. I believe I can honestly say I would take bullets for him. Leave America if you don't like. HOOAAAH!!!!!

  • And what of us? Americans? How will we be judged in the eyes of History? A Majority of us did vote for Bush in 2004. Even after all the revelations of torture, fraudulent war-related claims, illegal incarcerations and gross incompetence had come to light. So doesn't that just make us Bush's complicit accomplices? I think History will be just as harsh on us as it will on our commander in chief, branding Americans with our own scarlet letter to bare.
