  • If they include a CD along with the Vinyl, (since I don't think the people they want to discourage from downloading mp3s have Vinyl players) then they may get some sales. The again, why not actually make an effort with the packaging of the album. You know, include some photos, a poster, something; instead of a small leaflet with the band's name and some crappy photoshop filtered photos.

  • What the hell, their current plans are to release old stuff, umm how's that going to discourage people from downloading. Why not give some modern music the vinyl treatment.
Typical, the pinstripes have no clue.

  • Vinyl is around to stay, I DJ and would take some acetate over a CD any day of the week. It sounds better, looks better, feels better, and makes a better frisbee. :D

I don't think releasing old stuff will necessarily be a bad thing though, it'll just mean people will have the chance to complete their record collections, and no doubt reignite the passion for vinyl that seems to have diminished since all these new fancy formats have come out.

Check out the myspace page, it's for a drum and bass 'movement' that wants people to embrace vinyl rather than shun it.

  • vinyl will exist but will never be replacing digital technology on large scales like Dj's, Main reason being that we used to travel around the world and different venues with tons of weight in our cases, now, we can just carry one cd folder for the entire travel, a laptop and that is it.
For regular users and fanboys vinyl will exist as an analog paradise, but not for the mainstream users, like us, dj's...
Most of the DJ world uses digital, vinyl is not bound to stick with the majority, i love the sound, not the weight and the fee that comes with traveling with them ;)

  • "$20-30 range"
Fuck off. I bought Daft Punk-Alive1997 on Vinyl for €12

Vinyl has been making a come back for a while and if i had the choice would only listen to vinyl while at home.

But they can stop thinking it's an excuse to rip us off.
