US beef exports to South Korea could be labeled with the age of the cows they came from, as a way to ease concern over the safety of the meat. The Seoul government is reeling from mass protests over a deal to resume US beef imports, but as Al Jazeera's Step Vassen reports, South Koreans fearful of mad cow disease are increasingly turning away from beef altogether.

As an American living in Korea, it is my opinion that the opposition against U.S. beef is protectionism masquerading as a health concern issue. After asking my Korean coworker if she thought Koreans would be appeased if the aged of imported beef from America was lowered to 30 months and younger, she responded 'no', She then explained to me that no matter what, Koreans will be distrustful of American beef and there are still other issues to worry about... Korean families who produce beef might be out of a job.
