  • Big deal, she should have lost her job.

  • Some way to end a career. I'm sure she filed suit according to her first amendment rights, but, in all honesty it should be the viewers who decide to tune in. Maybe she'll jump to satellite radio. I would send an application to Howard Stern right away.

I can't believe these people call themselves journalists. Am I ridiculous to expect a certain level of objectivity? It would be nice to watch different types of news stations for different points of views, but at this point, the best you can do is find one that least offends you. Give money to PBS.

  • Good! Anyone with half a brain would know the fist bump is just like a high five.

  • Has anyone stopped to ask, "was she just reading off the teleprompter"? She did look a bit surprised when she said it. If she did say it though, then she should have known better than that. Don't think it should have been enough to fire her, but it makes me laugh...

  • now if we could just get rid of Fox news...and can somebody fire Murdoch too?

  • High 5!

I was beginning to become concerned. If that was really a terrorist fist jab, Howie Mandel would be the ringleader, and most all youth would be terrorists.

  • It's frightening to think that she delivered that comment with smile. The underlying hate for the left is really frightening. It shows to what lengths people will speak or take action against others

  • Why not just save a lot of time and energy and take Fox News off the air?

    POUND IT!

  • createfreely,
Why are you trying to defend this racist, hatemonger? If she wasn't guilty, why is she trying to apologize ? Some people amaze me in how they're always trying to defend ignorance. Everyone knows just what she meant and what people are trying to do. More than Barack, alot of American people don't want to see his Black wife living and sleeping in the White House, because she won't be cooking and cleaning. Tell the damn truth !

  • Last night during McCain's town hall meeting, I recall the Fox Network arguing that Obama could not stick to the issues. Yet, stories like this one are the farthest any network strays from the issues. This is fear mongering!!!

  • National Fox news should be taken off the air as well as everything associated with Murdoch. Sensationalist fear mongering is all it is and if you google those words I bet you would find a definition of Hitler.

  • A small victory, if we can call it that.

    Fistbumps around!

  • Perhaps Fox News wouldn't have the ratings it did if Democrats who claim they abhor it wouldn't pay so much attention to it. Keep giving them credence.

  • If she is paid to simply read the words from the teleprompter, the individual responsible for inputting the words should be held accountable. She is merely a "talking head", for the network bosses. They are the one's responsible for the content.

  • ABOUT FREAKING TIME! They can fire them all as far as I'm concerned. FauxNews is about as far away from being "news" as one could get!
    barkway
  • Let's see how Fox News and their ilk fair when the political tide shifts. O'Reilly's show has already taken a dip in ratings. Murdock's firing people, left and right...
Wait. Make that, right and right.
Good days ahead, if we really want them.

  • Faux news just keeps pumping out the crazy. I'm suprised she didn't get a promotion. Probably because she was a woman and they thought that sort of crazy could only come because of hormones, not the legitimate whack-jobedness her male colleagues like Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly possess.
  • Sure, it could have been the teleprompter ... check out these clips of Ron Burgundy (Will Farrell) from the movie Anchorman.
    edmubnd
  • it wasn't what she said, it's that she didn't have enough clout to say it. if it had been sean hannity, or billo, neither one would have gotten fired.

  • Does anyone even watch Fox News for reasons other than entertainment purposes?

  • good job fox. Glad to see a network take quick action on a serious problem employee
  • great it is about time they were held accountable for that ignorant shit they talk about

  • A first jab connected with terrorism? People have been doing that for who knows for how long; wow that bitch must be racist. I'm not calling her dumb because she knows herself that the first pump has no terrorist correlation; I think she was just trying to sway votes away from Barack.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if this was on the teleprompter... but I take offense to anyone that even attempts to call ED Hill a journalist.

Wasn't she the host of their morning show?

  • Hill apologized for her comment by saying, "I mentioned various ways the Obamas' fist pump in St. Paul had been characterized in the media. I apologize because unfortunately, some thought I personally had characterized it inappropriately."

Though the innocence implied by her statement is dubious to say the least, I am willing to give Hill the benefit of the doubt and attribute her "terrorist fist jab" comment to someone else in the media. The problem is, she does not site who that person is, this so-called "media" source from which the terrorist characterization was derived, and until she does, she and the news network she represents should be held fully accountable for the comment.

Taking Hill off the air is a relatively meaningless gesture given that she will "stay with the network in an as yet undetermined capacity," according to the Guardian article. Fining Fox News for repeatedly misrepresenting the truth, or in this case, the "media" source, who Politico says was in fact a commenter responding to a Cal Thomas column by calling Obama's action a "Hezbollah style fist jabbing," would send a much stronger, more appropriate message.

  • She'll be back on fox before you can blink your eyes.

  • I have no problem with a Faux anchor saying whatever she wants -- this is America -- what she said is nothing compared to what, say, Pat Robertson says every day on 700 Club.

My issue is that they call it 'News' -- which is why I refer to them as Faux News :-) Using a news anchor format, table, background, etc., gives the false impression that what they're doing is 'reporting' the 'news' -- HA!!! It's the Wizard of Oz all over again, and we are confronted with the chimera of a newscast.

  • I doubt it was the teleprompter actually. I worked there for 7 years and you never knew what she'd say. Will never forget the look on everyone's face the day she announced live that her husband was "doing" the babysitter. Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy (her co-hosts nearly fell out of their chairs.

  • This is completely redonkylous.

  • She did not coin the phrase "terrorist fist bump"
This is what I found on this phrase:

The closest the internet can come to coughing up a reference to a "terrorist fist-jab" that doesn't involve Hill is one comment on political blog Human Events Online. The comment was deleted. And also it was insane.

Michelle is not as “refined” as Obama at hiding her TRUE feelings about America—etc. Her “Hezbollah” style fist-jabbing—mouth-twisted anti-American speeches is STRAIGHT from ISLAM!

  • Just watched the E.D. Hill clip and I think it's funny that she brought up the "fist bump"/"fist pound", and totally missed his light slap to the "bum" that he gives his wife as she walks away...
    stvn_watkins
  • Fist bumping is like the potato bumping. Why not just concentrate on the real issues? OBama has been in Federal service for all of 42 months and half of that he spent campaigning for President. Now he wants me to believe that he knows how to straighten out the country, He don't know what he don't know !! thats how smart he is!!

  • they should have been fired for just being lame

  • "Taking Hill off the air is a relatively meaningless gesture .........."

I am in favor of FOX putting as many right wing whackos on the air as possible. Instead of dancing as close to the line of propriety as they can get away with with let's have them cross it with every opportunity. This will help folks figure out sooner rather than later that FOX is a great big right wing propaganda machine rather than a legitimate news outlet.

By the way, didn't I see a pod here on current that had Murdoch saying exactly that?
    seeker561
  • Isn't talking about this "issue" for hours a waste of time? Let's talk about the real issues.
    Mafioso
  • actually this is important...people need to call fox news on crap like this everytime. the only thing that stops this kind of junk is calling them on it every time they do it!

    remember liz trotta?

have you ever gone to their website and looked at the most read stories? shows what's important to the folks who get their news from fox.
