As gay marriage is set to be legalized in California, one county has called for civil marriages to stop, meaning people will have to go to another county to get married, because the people in charge can't pick and choose who they will marry.

The extent to which some will go to prevent equality is mind boggling.

Well if you can marry, then no one can! So there!
Why do conservatives act like six-year-olds when confronted with anything remotely pertaining to sex? It's weird. -

Some things are important, but every story about Gay Marriage or the Gay plight is not.
Just like every Bush hate talk isn't newsworthy nor is the positive blow of Obama or the Bush Twin talk with McCain.
A man saving his friend and wife from the cold is newsworthy. -
This is great. So that county is sending all marriages to another county so they can lose all the money spent on those weddings. Real smart move.

Oh, for a moment I was worried that it was MY little redneck conservative county.

this is misleading... the county is not halting "all" marriages. It is not performing the marriages on-site. People are still free to marry where they want to be, so long as they are not expecting to be married right then and there after getting their marriage licenses.

I live in Merced County, CA, and our county clerk tried to stop wedding ceremonies for everybody, but he later reversed his decision after some pressure.
