Study: we may all be aliens

European and US scientists have proved for the first time that two bits of genetic coding, called nucleobases, contained in the meteor fragment, are truly extraterrestrial.

Both of the molecules identified, uracil and xanthine, "are present in our DNA and RNA," said lead author Zita Martins, a researcher at Imperial College London.

RNA, or ribonucleic acid, is another key part of the genetic coding that makes up our bodies.

So get over it if you have problems with other people of color, religion or whatever. The homeless person down the street is the same as you, the African in Zimbabwe is the same as you and the Christian and Jew and Muslim and Hindu and Buddhist and, and and.... is the same. We are just all unique in our appearances. We are all just, Human.

  • Sounds like someone trying to come up with another theory that we are all one... Like thats really going to change how people act to one another... Most, if not all people, are too stupid to let go of their differences... If they did, then we wouldn't have the tasty feuds we turn to for entertainment...

  • you know who worked that angle the best? jeremy gray aka vince vaughn. wedding crashers for the win. (had to explain that because i figured maybe, just maybe, one other person would even get that)

but seriously, simmer down scientologists, xenu will be back for you soon enough

  • Sounds like the Raleans are going to be vying for a shot at the whole Evolution vs Creationism/Intelligent Design fight.

  • The point is legit, and good science. The presentation here is a bit dramatic. But, since the entire universe is formed from the same materials, we all knew this anyway (except for the Creationists and others who believe that humans are "special" and have "souls"). Billions of years of evolutionary divergence, however, have made ME better than you.... (Sorry, bad joke!) :)

  • For some obscure and unknown reason I thought of this article that I read on this uber controversial website on the net that theroizes that when the "antichrist" comes to fruition he will usher in extra-terrestrials from above (which can be connected to Scientology dogma perhaps?) that will claim to be our "brothers" and so and so forth, and how WEIRD is it that this kind of NEWS about humans being related to "unearhtly" beings in some deep rooted, genetic, way, would come up around the time that some theroize the "antichrist" will make his grand entrance. What I'm insinuating, among other things, is that I'm finding brief and sometimes solid connections between the "end of times" scare/dogma with actual news...otherwise obscure news that to someone who's been to "satansrapture.com" will subconciously find connections to seemingly innocuous things...just saying. :) Follow the link at your discretion. It's kind of "out there", but some things on that site really "click" with my previous half-knowledge (of things).

Haha! I don't know why I felt the need to bring that up. :)

Nonetheless, what an interesting finding. Anything is possible I guess.

The human race as a whole will never find real unity until an alien race decides to pay a visit. Then, the differences in our skin color and accents, will be a breath of fresh air even to the most ignorant type of closed minded prick. It will be us against them. We can't help thinking like that. We're human.
    Neghie
  • Neghie.....I agree that differences should be a breath of fresh air..........then theres that fear factor.......yall are the most fearful people in the Universe......it ain't a great trait to possess........don't expect many visitors.....especially in America.........Americans are not only feared world wide......the word is spreading through the Universe......there are visions of Hitler and other atrocities from 1945 zooming through the Universe.....thank Good for Andy Griffith......he may just save your ass....it will be us against them.......it's yall against yall......right now......how's that working?......just cause you are human.....you don't have to take and act ignorant..........Golden Ruler.....every other day.......Will........Will.....Not....Will....Not.........................
  • We are all made of stardust!

  • Maybe that's why we're so obsessed with aliens, they're part of our heritage. ^_^

    Let's phone home.

  • We are all made of atoms- the earth, plants, animals, and humans alike. All matter is just energy condensed to a slow vibration.

Of course we are one and the same.
    SpookyFish
  • So extraterrestrial genetic coding informs us all...that explains the feelings of alienation alternating with a strong sense of unity! But isn't the basis of human pettiness really "My space alienness is better than your space alienness?" For example, I have a mouth, whereas the extraterrestrial pictured here does not. My space alienness really is better than his.

  • Every human being is 99.9% identical, so yes we are all the same. The .1% is just enough for our individuality to evolve out of us so we aren't all clones of each other. And are we not space aliens? We live on earth which is in space, and as a being inhabiting this planet in space, we are just another space alien to another being from another location in space, no?

People don't like others for their ideas, not genetic makeup.
    theobratton
  • Theo....from where I see it....a large percentage of humans don't care a lot about anything different.....short ones don't like tall ones....skinny ones don't like fat ones.....different shaded people all think there's is the one....it's all genetics....most could care less about your ideas or concerns...but fear is still the engine that drives it......no one can choose were they came from...only where they are going......Golden Ruler...Will.........period............
  • People hate other people for small, insignificant, and often times uncontrollable differences. The irony is that we are all created the same and choose to seperate and segregate ourselves. This scientific study just confirms what some people have been saying all along about the human race being the only true race on Earth.
  • If only those who possess power would recognize the simple fact that we are all equally human, equally corruptible, and equally deserving of freedom on this planet.

    If only.

  • I think that this is another step in the right direction in promoting equality and diminishing prejudice. My only concern is that many people simply cannot change their deeply embedded views.

The idea that our genetic makeup is extraterrestrial may be a hard pill to swallow for some folks in the US.
    unabletocomply
  • 'Equally corruptable' is a good key phrase, but some choose that path more than others, and that is the beginning of the 'selfish' problem...otherwise, this whole discussion is just baby talk to our superiors, the former and true inhabitants of earth...the ones your trying to call aliens...

  • Okay, is the picture Loki or Thor? Or maybe that cloned one? Seriously, I love Stargate and the Asgard rocked. If they truly existed it would be even better.
Why do we need something like this to force us together? Those of us who know are pretty patient, imho, and eventually those who don't get it will either kill each other off or be left behind when we finally get our collective asses off this rock. Until then, I'm still doing my part educating those I know who will listen...

  • That piece of code was likely introduced about 3.8 billion years ago when Terra (Earth) was being heavily bombarded with meteors and just developing life. Even if it is extraterrestrial, it's old news. What I'm stoked about is that they found uracil and xanthine in a meteorite. Of course, that doesn't mean it was ever alive ( for example, computer code containing an interesting number of zeros and ones may be similar to a significant piece of software, even form the basic principles of it, but still not function itself. Still, cool.

  • *applauds*

I've never bought into the idea of 'race.' Yes, we are all humans. Period.

And don't give me the argument that some 'races' are more susceptible to this or more resistant to that. Bullshit. We're humans. I think this world would be a better place if we, collectively, viewed it that way. Mr. Jung comes to mind.

Hell, we're exchanging atoms at a constant rate, and not just with fellow humans, but with that monitor in front of you, that chair you're sitting upon, with the vintage Batman lamp that sits upon my desk. The lot of it. Exchanging all the time. We're energy, and we're exchanging energy. And that energy continues to exist, even after we're 'gone.'

  • Most atoms (from Helium to Iron) got into space through supernovas. All the heavier-than-Iron atoms got into space through supernovas.

Thus most of the atoms in our earth and in our bodies were blasted out into space by supernovas.

Since our Earth, its minerals, air, water: the substance of life forms are made of atoms created in centers of stars, our whole being is a result of and is intertwined with the Cosmos.

So yes, we are as alien as, well.... aliens.

  • self importance will stop this "We are all one in the same.", stuff. Pride, vanity, ego, etc. Will never allow us to see each other as equals. Hence, this comment section. So we can see just who thinks like us, or who is dumber than us.

  • Or, indeed, who is apparently more intelligent.

    Meh.

We may not all be on the same level, hell, the same playing field even. But we're all human.
    Amber_LaStrega
  • Ha, I just had a debate with someone on the merits of categorization based on the idea of race, which is nothing more than a social construct. It amazes me how many of us still, in the 21st century still try to prove our differences on some genetic level, which is just not true. I think we have our own new century 'the world is flat' myth. Heh, now I kinda know how Galileo felt...
