Archaeologists have discovered what seems to be remains of the world's earliest religious worship site in the remote Ngamiland region of Botswana. Here, our ancestors performed advanced rituals, worshipping the python some 70,000 years ago. The sensational discovery strengthens Africa's position as the cradle of modern man. The new archaeological findings in Botswana show that our ancestors in Africa engaged in ritual practice 70,000 years ago - some 30,000 years earlier than the oldest findings in Europe

I wonder how the Creationists feel that there were other religions before theirs and that they existed more than 64000 years before the earth was made?

At least they were worshiping something besides themselves.

This opens up a few odd questions:
1. Does this mean we have to blame Africa for religion?
2. Did the bible's snake story idea come from here?
3. Does Botswana now have the right to sue in international court for any religious copyrights since they have the oldest proof of the concept of religion?-

I wonder why they chose python. I would have gone with C++ myself.

response to tom of north cali:
What do you mean ''blame'' Africa for religion. People need to learn more respect for the cradle of civilization. The terminology you are using is very condescending. In that sense you can ''blame'' Africa for everything man has done, since all humans originated there. I mean, the righteous and morally superior white people could never manipulate people with religion, that must be a black creation. Is this just uninformed ignorance, or more subliminal white supremacy?-

response to Angry_Mulatto,
"Does this mean we have to blame Africa for religion?" This has nothing to do with color. It is about satirical commentary on religion. Obviously, you do not understand. I am offended by your accusations and so are my mulatto kids. Finally, how can one respect religion, when people use it to kill others, especially to kill people of color? In addition, Africa is not god, nor is any other continent. To be truly equal, one must be able to accept criticism about or from each continent. Instead of being so angry over something you cannot control, why don't you post facts, figures, and the sources for your arguments? Peace and understanding are also African values, just ask Nelson Mandela.-

angry mulatto - Are you that closed off to the idea of a joke? Maybe you should try "self-righteous_mulatto."
