Thousands of protesters have held rallies in South Korea's capital Seoul this week as they continue their campaign against the lifting of a ban on US beef imports.
Street protests, sometimes involving extreme measures, are an important part of Korean culture. More than 10,000 are held every year - some with devastating consequences.

1. Tragic. The man who burned himself to death was probably more mentally ill than politically savvy. Whatever happened to non-violent civil disobedience instead of setting yourself on fire, in order to bring about political change?
2. I am glad that the Koreans are developing a culture of protest. It's better than we Americans sitting at home in front of their computers complaining about our government on blogs! Ha ha.-
