Congress craps out again, set to approve more wire-tapping

We elected these clowns to end the war; instead they are about to allow Bush to further spy on us when they should be busy impeaching him.

"It sounds like they've crafted a bill that gives the president everything he wants," said ACLU legislative director Caroline Frederickson. "The essence of this so-called compromise appears to be the White House legislation with a couple of ribbons around it."

  • Recalls, and someone else in their jobs are in order. Nancy Pelosi FIRST!
  • The "impeach him" line is getting old besides, what will you impeach him for in this case?
I said it before and I'll say it again. The Democrat Party is not the answer to the Republican and vice versa. Remember Echelon? It was a spy program used by intel agencies. Clinton was in office when that one began. Hell, why don't we go back and impeach Lincoln? He intercepted telegrams. How is that so different. Of course Lincoln did do a LOT more worse not to mention killing civilians and the War of Northern Agression.
Question............If a president or legislature enacts a program or law and that law is later found to be unConstitutional do we then automatically impeach? Do we impeach if the behavior continues in spite of the court ruling. Does this logic stop at the presidency or does it innure to Congress? Do we impeach if we think a law or action is wrong. Interestingly enough, the oath of office for the president under Article II, Section 1 says that the president will "protect and defend the Constitution". It says nothing about upholding it. He can be impeached for Treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Frankly I think most of the leadership of the House and Senate should be tried for treason but since they are Democrats their treason is allowed.

  • And pride-filled hypocrite Republicans still love him and think he's a great man.

  • We as a people are in serious need of a revolution.

  • We need to vote out of office everyone voting for spying on Americans.

    It's BS.

  • This is depressing. What is happening to this country?
  • Ogmin said, "We elected these clowns to end the war..."

Well, you got that right. The Democrats only wanted to be in power to undermine a president they hate and refuse to support. So they promised that if elected they would end the war and bring our troops home yet they have failed to do so. OHMIGOSH! THESE PEOPLE LIED TO US!!! IMPEACH CONGRESS!!! DEMOCRATS LIED AND PEOPLE DIED!!! They were supposed to end this war in January 2007 after they took office and they didn't do it! PELOSI LIED SOLDIERS DIED!!! IMPEACH PELOSI!!! IMPEACH REID!!! IMPEACH KUCINICH!!! Our soldiers are dying in Iraq and not one single Democrat has done a thing to stop the war and get our sons and daughters out of harm's way. It's a travesty that Congress hasn't recalled our troops...

I guess that little clause in the Constitution about the President being Commander in Chief of the military kind of got in the way, huh?

Of course the Constitution DOES give Congress the power to not fund troops in wartime. So tell me, why haven't the majority Democrats bothered to stand up and say, "We don't like this war so we're not going to give the troops any more money."

Could it be that deep down they know that Bush really is right and they don't want to take a chance on really screwing things up? Nah, couldn't be that...

  • Well. Somebody's planning to go down in a blaze of stupidity.

  • Perhaps we should impeach them all for having a male prostitute visit the White House one hundred times? No one is man enough to admit he was their "friend." Seems to me that is just as serious as Monica Gate. Maybe not? Military Stud Gate sounds more businesslike.
  • Neghie: "Well. Somebody's planning to go down in a blaze of stupidity."

As George W. said, "Bring it on."

  • I love the people that speak out for the president as if he gave a rat's ass about them. Forget the spying. It's been done before, sure, so we'll forget about it.

How about documented ELECTION FRAUD in both 2000 AND 2004? How about manipulation of the public into a war of choice based on fabricated evidence (documented)? How about using one of the greatest tragedies in American history to scare the people into that war? How about those 935 lies? How about Katrina? What about those prosecutors? The impeachment does need to happen, if only to help America regain some of its self respect. Thomas Jefferson is turning in his grave.

  • the political system is busted.

"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

We all know something new is coming, start brainstorming a new model people.
