Lesbian couple of 55 years finally say 'I do'

I was there the first time they got married - they were the first couple to tie the knot when Mayor Newsom first made the change to the marriage licenses.

It's nice that this time around, they hopefully won't have to do it again!

I think it's amazing that they had to wait this long for a right most of us take for granted and treat callously...very sweet story

This is why we should just allow gay marriages, there are people out there who deserve it and want it a lot more than some heterosexuals.

Wow that story brought tears to my eyes, their strength and love is an inspiration to anyone regardless of sexual orientation.

It has been too long and I cannot wait for the day when the idea of gay marriage makes us think how crazy it was that we denied them for so long!

I live in California, it is 6:20p.m., an hour and a half since gay marriage became legal, and the sky has not fallen in!

If they've been together for 55 years then the odds are probably pretty good that they'll be married for the rest of their lives.

I wonder if they'll do any tracking of the couples that get married and see if their divorce rates are any different.

This is a nice story. When I heard it yesterday it made me wonder why the various anti-gay marriage blowhards who bleat on about the sanctity of marriage don't protest more widespread hetero shams like Vegas chapels and other stunts like that. I suppose if it were really about the 'sanctity of marriage', they would.

I'm so happy for these women. All us Californians have to do now is to vote down that amendment in November.

For all the haters and protesters: why the fuck do you care so much? No one's stopping you from getting married. Are you that threatened? Do you worry that your children will be affected? If you do your job as parents than you needn't worry about your children. Live and let live. It's confusing to me why people feel the need to fuck up other people's lives...their happiness. How selfish, egotistical, and bigoted of you! :)
