Sights and sounds from the 2008 Gay Pride Weekend in Los Angeles, where the recent Supreme Court ruling extending the right to marry to gay couples was on everyone's mind.

While getting a legal document stating that so and so is henceforth married to so and so is somewhat bizarre to me. If a gay couple wants to get married then so be it. There is a lot of children that need to be adopted. The world needs help raising orphans. Remember, with marriage comes divorce!

Here's hoping that people will realize that Freedom and America being synonymous shouldn't be limited to your ideology, religion or political beliefs. Either you have freedom or you don't.
How is this issue different than women's rights? Those of minorities? We've come a long way as a country. Rights and freedoms should be allowed to every citizen. By picking and choosing when those freedoms are applied, you open yourselves up to those same tyrannies and opressions that we're supposedly fighting a war over.-

cant we jus have them have a thing that is equal to marriage but itsnt called marriage?

I have been with my partner for 10 years, I love her so much it hurts some days. We don't live in a state with gay marriage and if not for the fact that I want to be treated just like everyone else, I would not care about the paper that say we are committed to each other.

For some straight couples marriage is really exciting and important, for others they live together as common law husband and wife and never want to get "legally" married. So why should it be any different for gay people? Some are excited to tie the knot, others say its not for them.
Why should we deny any Americans the right to get equal tax benefits, to choose who they want to visit them in the hospital if they are hurt or dying, and who they want to share their life with?-

Marriage is not a right!!!! It's an establishment, an establishment made by God and controlled by God.
-
Finally! Taxation with REPRESENTATION!
-
Wrong
The license in my state says nothing about god and is issued by the state.
Have you ever heard of the First Amendment?
You know that pesky little part about the separation of church and state?-
