After the breakup of the Soviet Union, all of the Soviet sculptures in Lithuania were dismantled and laid to waste in backyards all over the country. A place called Gruto Parkas (often referred to as "Stalinworld" by the West) has become their new home. The park aims to preserve Soviet History by remembering the past and looking forward to a better future.

  • I'm voting up for this item since a soviet heritage in a postsoviet time is realy interesting topic to discuss. BUT...
I would expect to see more than just a fact of being of such a sightseeing in postsoviet Lithuania. I would expect to see and hear a reaction of local and non-local visitors (if there are some at all???). would Lithuanian school bring its students to see such a place nowadays, for example? Do people want to learn something from their past or they hate it and would rather forget it?
As far as I know, there were an explosion of anti-Soviet, anti-Russian and even nasionalistic feelings in Former Baltic republics with a fall of USSR. How does this sightseeing reflectis a curent situation in LIthuania?
It is so much to tell regarding this topic, therefor, I think that this video item is mostly undeveloped, unfortunately.
