A new survey shows that 46% of us will travel less by air to try and save the environment. "3% of those surveyed said that they will only fly with airlines that have a clear green policy and 81% claiming that airlines are not doing enough to tackle global warming,

I'm definitely in the 81% of people who think that the airlines are not doing enough to tackle global warming.
With flight prices so cheap to some places, people see it as an easy and quick way to get from A to B, but often disregard the consequences on the environment them flying causes. -
They say the would fly less, would they actually? Cause eventually they're going to look at how long it takes, or how much it costs to travel by alternate means, and they're going to take a plane - any plane.

GREAT IDEA!!!
Carbonfree Surfing – a web based program that lets surfers take direct action to reduce and offset their surfing related impact on the earth’s climate, (known as a carbon footprint) generated by flying, driving, or boating to catch the next swell. Bottom line – traveling to surf can produce a lot of CO2 emissions, and this is what’s driving global warming, which spells big trouble for our ocean environments and surf spots. So how does it work? Simple – the CarbonFree Surfing program allows you to calculate the CO2 footprint of your next surf trip, and then to offset it’s climate impact with an online donation (tax deductible) that supports the purchase of CO2 offsets, from climate-friendly projects like reforestation in Nicaragua or even clean power from renewable power projects.-

It's very easy for 81% of the British public to say airlines aren't doing enough for the environment. It's like when those guys stop you in the street and ask you if you like hip hop - there really is only one answer you can give.
I wonder how many of that 81% are taking alternative steps to get to and from their holiday destination this year. Are 81% really going to go by car, train or boat, or are they just going to stick with planes because they're more convenient but expect the airlines to solve the entire problem? -
I agree. I'd say these opinion poll statistics mean nothing... There is a big difference between saying and doing! A lot of people would like to think of themselves as environmentally friendly... but how many actually take steps towards actually being so?!

But even if most of us stop flying, those planes will still run because of the few people who need to fly...
-
That's cool they are doing that but then you are stuck in one place. I will also probably fly less, not for the environment but because it's so expensive now.
-
I actually fly more now. It's cheaper than driving. Sorry Earth, but my pocketbook is in control of my long distance travel descisions.
