It had to happen but the Mets chose a horrible way to do it. They made Randolph fly out to California with the team anyway. They won their game in convincing fashion and then they fired him in the wee hours of the morning after the WIN. A news release came out at 3:15 announcing it. Unbelievable!!!

That's a pretty crappy way to fire someone. I feel bad for the guy.

I can understand to choose 3 a.m. in California to fire him...
Does anyone ever read the sports section of the New York Post and know how that publication is run? ~~ they work in the same building and facility as Fox News ~~ if that's any hint...
Firing him at that hour and that location was a gesture to at least let him go away from the rabid masses of New York sports media...
And they did give him all the chances in the world to win, with the highest payroll in the National League, every resource New York had to offer, and he let the team blow it last year when they had a 7 game lead with 17 days left in the season... he just doesn't have the energy and ability to bring out the best in his players someone like Bobby Valentine did... (a predecessor who took the Mets to the World Series with a not-so-star studded lineup)
