Our sister Winona LaDuke appears on the Colbert Show in a segment on American Indians and the 2008 Presidential Political Race.
Anishinaabe Environmental Activist Winona LaDuke who ran for U.S. Vice-President in 1996 and 2000 on the Green Party Ticket with Ralph Nader is gracious when Stephen Colbert says "Migwetch" (Anishinaabe for Thank You) for electing George W. Bush.
Winona gifts Colbert with a flag souvenir from the White Earth Nation and $24.00, and jokes, "That should make us all set."
Watch the video to hear Winona LaDuke's Indian humor.

Apologies for the quality of the video. We'll keep searching for a better version.

The rerun came on yesterday. That was an interesting episode because the vertical farming guy was on, too.

Why run with Nader then support Obama??
-
You'd have to ask Winona, herself, that question.
Remember, Winona ran with Nader in 1996 and 2000. That's 12 and 8 years ago. She's become a grandmother twice since then.
She did not support Nader in 2004.
While I don't support Obama, I respect my friend's different choice.
I've finally accepted that no U.S. Presidential candidate or President is going to enact the indigenous-minded changes necessary for peace with justice.
We need leadership like Onondaga Faithkeeper Oren Lyons, Oglala Lakotah Russell Means, Chief Wilma Mankiller and Winona, herself, to use their oratory skills and centuries of indigenous knowledge of how to live sustainably on this continent to make immediate changes in our energy use, consumption, waste treatment, and environmental health, so we can begin to heal the planet and survive as two-leggeds in right relation to all living beings on, above and within the sacred living earth. -
It's good to see someone of Winona's character speaking up for the beliefs of the native Americans...who continue to get screwed by the American government at every turn...
