MUMBAI, India - Police arrested 70 Sikh protesters after the MTV music channel's office in western India was vandalized over posters showing a Sikh girl massaging a man, officials said Tuesday.
On Monday, protesters smashed windows with rocks, tore banners and damaged furniture in the MTV office in Mumbai, India's financial and entertainment capital, police inspector Raju More said.
The protesters said the posters, which promoted the reality show "On the Job2," offended Sikhs, More said. Sikhs comprise more than 2 percent of India's 1.1 billion people.
Police later released the protesters on bail, he said.
Satish Maneshinde, MTV's attorney in Mumbai, called it an unfortunate incident. He said no one was injured in the attack.
Maneshinde said MTV would consider the protesters' demands to remove the posters.

It might sound ethnocentric but...
It still amazes me how far back in time some people still live. -
I know it's about the MTV employees' safety, but I wish they'd leave the posters up to prove a point. If there's an issue with something, you can handle it with some decency, not violence.

Please Sikhs for the love of every person that ever turns on a television.... RID US OF MTV!!!! IT SUCKS SO BAD!!! Please, burn every station that broadcasts it... remove its garbage from the airwaves...
And as a little side note, if you could... please give us some real MUSIC television, none of these bs reality shows nobody watches sober. -
MTV reality shows are deadly. Cancel them all. Thank God for this story.

MTV reality shows are racist,sexist and suck.(except Big&Rob)..I agree take the whole thing down Mundos and Fuse are better....I am not that into rock but even the rock is enjoyable on Fuse...unlike the teeny bopper pop crap on MTV...the rap is better two on the latter mentioned stations. Sometimes violence is necessary to make a point...then people hesitate to try to mock, patronize, or intimidate you. MTV thinks people are stupid.

Honestly. Did they need to do that? They couldn't have said anything before throwing rocks? What the hell is up with all the rage and anger. The Sikhs should get a little bit of education, at least the please and thank you part.

I'm finding it hard to take a side. We often forget that there are many cultures who are all very different, take for instance, the Chinese, who eat "pets". To them, it's totally normal but the westerners it's horrific.
