It is estimated that approximately 51,320 of California's same-sex couples are planning to marry now that the California state Supreme Court has ruled that gay and lesbian couples are entitled to civil marriage in that state.

Another 68,000 out-of-state couples are likely to travel to California to tie the knot generating anywhere between $437.5 million and $683.6 million over the next three years, and creating 2,178 jobs in California, particularly in the travel-related business.

Yet some counties in California are going to be missing out on the expected financial windfall created by gay marriage as projected by a resent study because of some official homophobia in those counties.

  • This isn't good. California, like the rest of the world, could seriously use an economic boost and some evolution-impaired zealots are keeping us from picking up a half-billion dollar paycheck. Nice job meatheads.

  • These people beleive that they are doing the righteous thing, and that gays and lesbians are evil. How ironic is that.

  • Funny how the people who constantly complain about having to pay taxes don't mind when taxes are used to deny other people's rights.....silly republicans, rights are people!
  • If some people don't get with the times they loose out. Not my problem they should learn how to self improve, or change their mindset with the changing of the times.

  • I don't even know what to say, l thought the whole reason for being a human being was to evolve and reach for self actualization. I sure as hell don't think it is anybody's business what I do in my bedroom, and it sure as hell isn't my buisness what they do in theirs.
