  • This guy, Gore Vidal, is a moron.

  • This is a very important topic. The impeachment of a sitting President for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Are thirty-five high crimes enough? How many misdemeanors can we endure? Are they not really crimes? If not, what really makes a misdemeanor worth caring about? A failure of national security? A failure of caring for our nation's infrastructure? A non-response to natural disasters past in Louisiana, and now in Iowa?

And can we, or anyone believe for an instant that Gore Vidal is a moron? If you disagree with him, he may be an irritant, he may be a gadfly, he may be the Devil Incarnate. But he can hardly be compared to a moron.

  • I understand that some people do not like President George W. Bush. All this person is doing is making over dramatized baseless accusation. The idea that this drama queen thinks other people should take him seriously makes him a complete and total moron. He has a right to say what he wants and I have a right to reply.

  • I have to side (a little) with mjsmith on this one. His own snickering (Vidal's) and condescending tone made me want kick him in the shins.

A moron? I wouldn't go that far, but, with respect, Mr. Vidal should be coached that a dramatic monologue does not make it more valid.
like someone should have told Bill Shatner... saying it with a dramatic pause doesn't... make.... good... acting.

I can't stand Bush, I think he broke the law to get the job, lied to keep it (Dems deserve to be kicked in the balls for allowing him a second term) and fed the American people a consistent series of lies that history (I think) will show to be some of the worst steps a country could make in the history of... countries.

But when you deliver a speech designed to move people... damn dude, try a Redbull. He had me sleeping at "couterrev....." zzzzz

  • Anyone have the right to express their opinions. Call Gore Vidal a "moron" is more like an insult to someone that is speaking nothing far from the truth. We all know that this war started with 911. My questions to everyone are:

    -Why Iraq?
-Was all hijackers from Baghdad or friends of
    Saddam Hussein?
    -Can you prove that?
-Did Saddam really had weapons of mass destruction as to whole entire controlled Media claimed to the American People?

Come on Mjsmith, do you want to risk your head answering these questions?

  • Most of the Hijackers were Saudi Citizens according to the official report. There was a picture of George and King Faud in a lip to lip kiss here on Current just yesterday.

What Gore Vidal is saying is that there has been a huge robbery of not only money and property, but the prestige of the nation has been degraded to such an extent that the world at large finds the actions of this administration culpable for atrocities against humanity.

He is also saying that Dennis Kucinich is leading a Counter-Revolution to the Corporate Coup de tat.

Frankly I think that Gore Vidal is one of those authors that you either like or you don't because of his literary or in this case audio blog style, but you cannot dismiss the truth that he speaks. This President, Vice President and their administration should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

  • The Dems deserve to get kicked in the balls because they didn't have the political skill to sidestep scare tactics and didn't have the passion to get people out to vote...

I don't think we should start kicking each other in the balls everywhere... but can you imagine the you tube videos and America's Funniest Home Video submissions that would create.

I think he has some good points and perhaps I critiqued too heavily what bugged me. I had a problem with the condescending tone... that lost me more than the speaking style. Content... I agree with much of the left's propaganda... and I really believe that Obama will rise above it (the propaganda)

Like I said earlier, I can't stand Bush and his cronies...please get them out this time.
  • Thanks for the interesting post sn.

  • Let us just put some light and truth up to what this guy says.
The gas and oil "crooks" have not seized control of the United States Government or the Constitution. Gore Vidal starts with the name calling.

Specifically what crimes against the American people?
If they are so specific, then they should obvious and easily proven.
As for President George W. Bush or Vice President Cheney never being elected to any office...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Cheney#Congress
    Simply not true.
He falsely claims that no American newspaper paid attention to this story. He specifically names the New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. Well he is completely wrong about that too.

Gores Vidal says the United States media does not give not a flying f@^%$ about the welfare of this Republic. He turns to Le Monde, a french newspaper, because they do? If he honestly believes that and us expects us to also? Yes he is a moron.

The people United States does not dare not be divisive. Where has he been since say the the Robert Bork nomination to the Supreme Court? THe people of the United States are as divisive about as many things as there are to be divisive about.

This guy has the responsibility to be accountable for his statements and be able to back them up with credible sources. Gore Vidal obviously did not do any research or is just targeting an audience that has little or no regard for the truth. I think that this guy sounds drunk. I did research his claims and found them to be entirely false and I prove it.
He insults and belittles the American people in his whiny rant. I do not like what he has to say and when I call him a moron, I am being polite.

  • I have read the articles you linked to and I must say that they are a token of coverage. Two of them were opinion pieces and were mostly laughing at Kucinich for having the audacity of hope that this would ever fly. Surely something more in depth could have been offered.

I have seen the Television coverage of the impeachment, not counting CSPAN, and most of the talk has been to ridicule Kucinich and manufacture the idea that the group of people supporting impeachment is minimal at best; this appears to me to be a lie.

I also checked out the two Wiki links and when it came to Dick Cheney, it seemed to me the only elected office that the had was with Wyoming for a while. The others were appointments.

People are a lot smarter than the media gives them credit for. The television has become a mighty oracle that defines reality for a good number of people. They get most of their information from these channels.

As for the evidence, there is lots of credible evidence, but time and again there are those, on both sides of the political spectrum that obstruct this evidence from being independently and thoroughly examined. It is being, or has been destroyed by those who would stand to loose the most politically.

The more I look at all of this the more I am convinced that there were many Democrats who were complicit with the Republicans in selling this illegal war to the American Public.

mjsmith11 you obviously are a very dedicated and heartfelt patriot to our country to feel so passionately about defending it. That is a good thing. But do you honestly believe that there is no hint of impropriety in the current administration? Are you defending this administration? Or do you simply have a distaste for Gore Vidal?

I can't remember the exact percentage but it was better than 50% of Americans believe the Government had a dirty hand in the events of 911 in a recent poll, I wish I could remember the organization that conducted it.

The only reason in my mind that powerful Democrats would block a full hearing of the evidence in Congress is because they signed off on the coup de tat.

  • I listened with awe to Kucinich, too.

And yeah, the fact that the MSM turned a blind eye to the Impeachment proceedings is absolutely infuriating.

Vidal has such a wonderful speaking voice.

I love me some truthdig ... somehow this flew under my radar. Thanks for posting!

  • I stand by everything I say. This guy says things that are not true and I prove it. He says that John McCain being a considered anything remotely as a hero is something to "snigger at".
The limited coverage and ridicule of Dennis Kucinich for these recent stunt is both adequate and appropriate.
I know that President George W. Bush is not above criticism. Why not have the criticism made against him be true? This guy talking here makes so many false claims.I would suggest to him to research his statements or hire someone else to do so. I live in the Washington D.C. area. I am sure that the events and goings on on Capitol Hill get more press coverage here than other parts.
If there ever was an action against the US Government, I would be the first person to stand up to defend it, with my life.
I could tell you so many things that are wrong with the actions of President Bush, the United States, and the main stream media. The difference between my criticism and Gore Vidal's is that mine would be accurate.
The Untied States Government did not have a hand in the tragic events of 9/11/01. An airplane went into the Pentagon, not a cruise missile. I know this.
