  • We are starting to reap what we sow. We deserve to be on their list. Maybe now congress will act. Out of shame if nothing else.

  • Fuck off Canada. Who the fuck pulled your chain. Get your own nukes and protect yourself for a change if you don't like it.

  • In international law and public opinion, the President does not decide what is to be considered a crime against humanity.

It is so important that waterboarding be called by it's proper name~ "torture". And that the United States be held accountable for her actions.

Unfortuantely no longer will countries take America's word as it is.

  • America has lost much credibility and stature through its unlawful methods. The Bush Administration turns everything it touches, including America's good name, into mud.

America, as a young country, initiated habeas corpus, while fighting the world's greatest superpower at the time, Great Britain. How low we have fallen to give up habeas corpus and other freedoms while fighting such an insignificant enemy.

  • I'm sick of being stereotyped by the actions of others. I may be from America, but I would never torture anyone. A few bad apples do not define a population of 300 million.

  • Waterboarding doesnt equal torture.
Sorry it doesnt, it is not the same as sawing someone's head off. I stilldont think the US should do it because it's just bad policy, but it is NOT torture

  • How about when we beat people to death? Is that torture? What is done in our name is torture and is disgraceful. The world knows what has happened and they are saying so. Now maybe congress will act to stop them? Maybe it's too late?

  • What is torture? My definition is: Any process that reduces my capability to make a rational decision to the point that I have no recourse but to capitulate to an interrogator or other authority.

In short: forcing me to say or do something against my own best self-interest goes way above requiring total compliance with all the safeguards of our legal system.

That includes drugs, shocks, physical abuse, sleep deprivation, humiliation, holding me upside down and pouring water up my nose. The list is endless.

One of our Supreme Court judges recently stated that torture during interrogation was not cruel and unusual punishment. His justification? Interrogation is not punishment.

A myopic statement like that should tell us that our national values are not being honored by those in power.

If I were to meet Thomas Jefferson I would really need to ask him why we can't get rid of someone like that from the Supreme Court?
