Luck ran out for about a dozen pigs who escaped their flooded farm, swam through raging floodwaters and scrambled atop a sandbag levee in southeastern Iowa.

they could of at least roasted them and fed them to the flood victims

Wild, desperate, hungry animals are dangerous. Where would they have put them if they managed to wrangle them? In a disaster situation, it's triage mentality, I guess.

Flood waters held by levee next to family homes.
500lb pigs trampling over levee.
The rest is good judgement.
Sorry that this is "sad" for the pigs but anyone in there right mind will shoot a pig if it saves the home and invaluable belongings they've worked their entire life for.-
