A rare and beautiful insight into this tribal ritual which also contains some scenes that may be uncomfortable for some viewers.

I'd like to hear more from them, and certainly less of the library soundtrack and more of the sounds of the ceremony.

Brilliant footage- but the music and voiceover makes the Maasi ceremony seem sad, when in reality this is a happy celebration and the Maasi are extremely proud of their culture and choose too live this way.

I don't know if you've ever been circumcised or not but it's pretty sad.

@aschneider no i have not been circumsised and im sure it hurts alot, but the ritual surrounding the circumcision is a one of festivity. I was in the Mara, Kenya talking to the Massi people in May and one of the young warriors said it did'nt hurt him too much and he was very happy to have it done as it was a sign he is now an adult. He was very proud to be Massi and was telling me how he likes to drink the blood of a cow and showing off the scar on his arm from a lion bite- he spent over an hour telling me all about his people and how happy they are living in their traditions.

i thought i was being ironic. there's obviously a cultural difference.
in the west (at least the US) there is a big backlash of men who have been circumcised at birth protesting that practice so young men can decide for themselves what they want... there's a whole list of pros/cons.-
