The 2 biological-parent family is slowly being dismantled by the spread of no fault divorces and now the imposition of same sex marriage

By separating the parental biological relationships from marriage, it will become over time more like another legal contract.

Non biological "parents" (Party A and Party B) will become more like glorified legal guardians.

Children, now unrelated by blood to one or both of these "parents" and that feel robbed for not having a father or a mother can demand and be given the right to divorce them.

Don't children have the same rights as children of natural marriage ? The right to their own father and mother.

    Let's talk about all of the children in foster programs because their biological parents abandoned them or were neglectful or abusive. Creating legal frameworks for adoption and parental relations not connected to "blood" is a necessary part of a civilized society. Otherwise children are doomed to stay in the system forever.

    How many kids do you know who have the financial independance to actually seek legal counsel and divorce their parents? Do you really think the Legal community thinks this could be lucrative? Ridiculous.

    It is unconstitutional for the Government to own anyone... "The welfare state" is so far from a reality now that Clinton and Bush have gutted it that the real fear is that there won't be any government regulation of the public welfare at all. We are already seeing the terrible results of the HMO restructuring of the Health system. People bankrupted because there ISN'T any welfare system.

    This just seems like libertarian nonsense. If you really think that the biggest thing to fear is a welfare state where we pay taxes than you haven't been paying much attention.

    Same sex marriage is about equality under the law. If heterosexuals can marry the man or woman of their choice... than homosexuals should be able to do the same. There are committed couples in the gay/lesbian community that have been together for decades and they still don't have rights of inheritance or visitation rights at hospitals when their partner gets sick. These fundamental rights of marriage are what's at stake here... not greedy lawyers.

    1) Family lawyers are in the divorce business, sorry. It is a multi billion $ business. Go to the family court, talk to the psychologists etc.

    2) Civil unions, domestic partners gave access to all these benefits already.

    3) Any society that devalues biological parenting and blood relations by dismantling the existing definition of marriage has to be ready for the consequences

    4) By the age of 16 already children have rights in the court system. You do not need money for contingency fees. By 18 a child can do what ever she or he wants.

    5) As the government, the judges etc keep undermining the role and authority of parents, the state will have to pay for the damages and end up having to take care of the children. That is what I mean by welfare state. I did not say good welfare

    6) There is a lot of money for lawyers in suing states, counties, cities, employers etc to push gay marriages.

  • Children don't have that choice before their birth. Many children are born into families with one parent. You also have millions of widows and orphans that are not being taken care of. There are many children in the Foster care system.

    Gay parents offer alternative suitable homes. Having the stability that a committed same sex partnerships or unions offer children practically the same psychological structure as heterosexual couples can offer. In gay relationships the division of labor and the emotional nurturing and emotional development tends to be determined by the gender roles each member of the same sex coupling settles into.

    Children need the roles fulfilled of father and mother more than they need someone being of that particular physical sex as the gender role would suggest to a dialectic thinking person.

    Gender is constructed socially and is always transitive or changing. Sexuality is predetermined in the womb, and research is showing that mothers can have a great influence on the development of the sex of the child

  • Once the state redesign marriage and parenting by severing the 2 parent biological blood relationship, it becomes temporary.

    In blood relations, Parents can see their ownselves, in their children and vice versa. They cannot divorce each other

    Even some children who had a very difficult childhood over time forgive their parents because of the family blood relations. They can see their own parents in themselves and they often face similar challenges.

    Parents who have adopted know the difference between blood line and adoptions

    In the same sex scenario, the adopted child may reject the same sex lifestyle completely and walkway .

    Once the state like in California redefines the family and takover marriage, it will have to assume the consequences. It is the same with public schools, sex education etc.

    As long as people pay taxes and cooperate, the state can feed iself otherwise, it collapses or as to become totalitarian.

    We can see the breakdown of relationships and the creeping of distrust growing in this country everywhere.

    People are loosing trust in most institutions

    The Tim Gill foundation and Co who want to redefine gender to how you feel instead of how you are made is playing with fire. In order to do it, free speech will have to be eliminated.

  • We live in a Constitutional democracy, the first amendment guarantees freedom of religion, but with a wall of separation between church and state.

    People need to be allowed to live their lives and let others live their lives in peace. None of us should be using the Government to interfere with the other's pursuit of happiness.

    This is a two way street.

    Everybody needs to sacrifice a little to make this Democracy work.

  • Children are entitled to a father and a mother that is why it takes a male and female to reproduce. Children across the country are deprived of a stable family. That don't make it right. In our anything goes, what ever feels good society some children are getting very confused by blurred gender rolls. Where could this possibly lead our society in the future? Today its same sex couples raising foster children. Whats next? Is this county going to stand up and protect children? I cant imagine as a boy being raised by two Ladies. Or worse two men adopting a girl, something about that just don't sound right. Come on people think about it, it just isn't right.

    Why would you what to move away from the traditional family when it has served us so well throughout history. Things have really gotten tough for our children in the last thirty years or so. It all seems to be linked to divorce being no big deal, nothing to be ashamed of ,a man abandon his family no big deal noting to be ashamed of,or a single mom raising children has become so common no one gives it any thought. What has happened ?Do we want to continue down this path?I hope not.

    You are so ignorant of the fact that most of the violence that is destroying our society is caused by religious straight people or elitists capitalists. Children are assigned gender roles from the time they are born in the colors that are chosen for them. It is a social construction and means only what people agree for it to mean.

    Meaning change all the time and families have always been made up of different structures as diverse as the sand on the beach. You are wrong to assume that every family everywhere has consisted of a mother and a father living together monogamously.

    I have studied Anthropology and Sociology and I have learned about many cultures that are alien to Western Christians. These cultures had matriarchal societies or tribal cultures based around different rules for who were parents and what rights children had.

    It is very self centered to assume that your definition of family has been the only one from the beginning and solely based on biological functions. You need to study more.

  • The traditional family has served THIS COUNTY well. Maybe we haven't given a good try to tribal culture. This is America not some third world village, if that is the kind of lifestyle you like you should think about moving to one of those villages you talk about. Our world is a violent mess because of the lack of capitalism. Once people have freedom to excel to the best of there abilities they no longer have the need for violence, they are to busy living there lives. But their will always be a few people that are to lazy to work that will resort to violence we do have that in America. And how you think you can improve on the traditional family is crazy.

  • Jubal, they are almost 7 billions people on this planete. We are in 2008, how many people are living in these matriachal obscure societies.

    It does not matter, how much homosexuals, transexuals whatever.... will try to redesign society to fit their unatural lifestyles.

  • First of all, how did this become an articcle about homosexuals??? And now back to the topic....... No fault divorce give a cheating spouse the right to commit said adultry and still benefit from the divorce. It is more an incentive to divorce than it is a protection of anyones personal rights. The only way to prevent a social breakdown of family structure is to enact gender equal divorce and family court laws........ No no fault divorce, and shared parenting legislation. We cannot reward bad behavior and expect society to be stable. We cannot rip children away from fit and loving parents and expect them to not have psycho-social issues as adults. As for financial incentives within the government, it is not only the divorce lawyers that benefit from broken homes, it is the judges, the caseworkers, and the mediators as well. Look up SS Title IV-D, a federal incentive plan that promotes false accusations from CPS, and broken homes across America.
