Obama remarks on detainees and Afghanistan

Quote:

"...I refuse to be lectured on national security by people who are responsible for the most disastrous set of foreign policy decisions in the recent history of the United States. The other side likes to use 9/11 as a political bludgeon. Well, let’s talk about 9/11.

The people who were responsible for murdering 3,000 Americans on 9/11 have not been brought to justice. They are Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda and their sponsors – the Taliban. They were in Afghanistan. And yet George Bush and John McCain decided in 2002 that we should take our eye off of Afghanistan so that we could invade and occupy a country that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. The case for war in Iraq was so thin that George Bush and John McCain had to hype the threat of Saddam Hussein, and make false promises that we’d be greeted as liberators. They misled the American people, and took us into a misguided war.

Here are the results of their policy. Osama bin Laden and his top leadership – the people who murdered 3000 Americans – have a safe-haven in northwest Pakistan, where they operate with such freedom of action that they can still put out hate-filled audiotapes to the outside world. That’s the result of the Bush-McCain approach to the war on terrorism."

  • This guy will say anything, I like the way he keeps linking McCain with the President in an attempt to try and capitalize on the butt hurt Democrats desire to get even for the last two Presidential elections.. I would not trust this guy for one second, he is another Slick Willy that if elected could actually make Carter look better.

  • On the contrary, Obama is right on the money here. McCain doesnt have to say he's in Bush's camp to espouse the same policy perspective. And that's the neo-conservative perspective; which promotes the spread of war and bellicose actions without using logic or diplomacy to mitigate inevitable disasters. The Republicans have totally failed in both their raitonale as well as their execution of both the "War on Terror" as well as The Iraq Conflict. Obama needs to push back hard to cut through the Republican smoke screens within foriegn policy debates!

  • McCain and Bush are working together--hell, McCain even wants Cheney as his vice president. So I think Obama has full right to say this.
  • Pakistani former PM gave this interview to David Frost only days before her assassination, in which she states Osama Bin Laden is dead and names the person who killed him.

Wake up! Bin Laden is already dead. Don't believe more lies from the same source (Council on Foreign Relations), fed to you via a new face. Obama's statements confirm that he is pushing the CFR propaganda and laying a foundation to support military action in Pakistan, a country with nuclear weapons. If both Dems and Reps are offering you a CFR member for their presidential candidate, then you will feel you have a choice and their agenda is accomplished regardless of the choice you make.

  • Barak said, "The people who were responsible for murdering 3,000 Americans on 9/11 have not been brought to justice."

    This is true.

Then he said, "They are Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda and their sponsors – the Taliban."

    This is false.

  • This paradox is regurgitating some very sickening outcomes to some very well rehearsed, but ill conceived, policy decisions, that have gotten this country nowhere, except morally and financially bankrupt...

I believe this Obama statement was taken out of context, in a clever way, to solicit support for guess who...

  • Wise up, Barack. Bin Ladin is dead.

  • Misguided war, correct.
    Occupancy gone wrong, correct.
    Murders not brought to justice,correct.
I pray for the day that this issue is cracked wide open.
The perpetrators that knew that they would gain from this tragedy, and needless loss of life, need to be brought to justice. The TRUE information is right under our noses, even though the U.S agencies tried to destroy most of it.
    People need to come forward.
Obama is taking it one step at a time, for the Americans who really are delusional and still living in a false insulated world.
This is on the right track at least.....

  • Obama always gets the point across

  • The more Obama makes this kind of statement, the more it will backfire on him if he ever became president.

He is insulting every person in the military, in the secret service pretty much everybody by acting so superior.

It is not a good sign of great character and experience. Within two years if he is elected, democrats are going to be so sorry.

  • Wow, I wonder if Bin Laden is really dead? And if he is, why wouldn't Bush want to brag about that? Was Pakistan trying to throw us a red herring or trying to get us to go home? Oh, politics are so complicated. Did anyone see Morgan Surlock's Bin Laden documentary? I heard it sucked.

  • If he really wanted to talk about 9.11 he would call for a new investigation. He doesn't. He like McCain touts the government line to use it to get votes. I find that disgusting on all sides. And again, why has he been voting to fund it?

  • I don't think Obama would be taken too seriously if he started stating Bin Laden is dead and 9/11 was an inside job.

Obama will say anything he can to con the American people.. and to win this election...with his views and his assoc..Him being our President will be an insult to OUR country...

  • We have Ripusoffican's in our presence. What a joke. Desperate people aren't you?

The Busheney crime syndicate couldn't have Benazir Bhutto winning taking back power in her country talking like that - saying they should go after the financiers of the "terrorist" because that'll only cause problems for Busheney.

It's so clear - and you trolls keep trying to tell us black is white and down is up. Yer only messin' with yer own minds. Don't you know it's evil to bare false witness?

Obama is the man!!!!!! Vote for Obama is you care about your children or anyone elses.

  • 1) hang Bush and Cheney by their fat necks

    2) Get Barack in the White House

    3) work with Gore and get our civilization back on track.

that's what I'd like to see.

  • Obama supporters are really pushy, they can't seem to take any critism of your great messiah! How twisted that you are all caught up in this cult mentality, and attack anyone who dares to disagree with you. Sad little people who can't think for themselves. Your religion is Obama worship!
    dcrc9596
  • dcrc, listen to yourself explaining yourself to the rest of us...you're sounding a little too guilty, not to be guilty...your poor attempt to disparage the good citizens who wholeheartedly believe in a true, honest and inspirational leader, Barack Obama, is ineffectual...

The evidence of the truth, lies in the record of this administration's recent policies, that have all turned out to be failure upon failure...so, it's not that we're pushy or that we can't take criticism, but, yes, we do disagree with fools who want to follow other fools, for another four years, blindly over the McSame cliff and to higher deficits, more defense spending, a continued illegal occupation, destruction of the Constitution, no accountability, no substantial foreign policy, less focus on education and infrastructure, and the list goes on... need I say more...the truth speaks for itself...but do you ever think of what the bush/cheney cabal has done to this country..?

I submit that it is you, obstinate fools, who are caught up in your cult worship...why else are you so blind to the truth and willing to follow the bush/cheney dogma so absentmindedly..what has this group ever done for you..? How can you be such right-wing tools...it is neither logical nor reasonable...it is you who are caught up in your traditional hocus pocus...

Well, I guess everyone has the right to believe what they want, even if it is inconceivable...
    PlatoTacius
  • lol, barry hussein obama has never accomplished anything aside from being voted "most liberal senator", funny thing his that does obtain him deity status on websites like current, daily kos, and huffington post.

Do not insult their savior dcrc9596!
  • You two just hate to see a real democratic statesman get anywhere in the political arena...

Regarding deity status and Obama..."It is you who say that I am..." ...Jesus the Christ, when asked by fools if he thought he was God...
    PlatoTacius
  • ITS McCain all the way
