Gett'n hosed by the Air Force in Nor Cal
It went from a clear sunny day to being sprayed like bugs. Not a cloud or plane in the sky till 2:00 in the afternoon. Then they started spraying Chaff every where for six or seven hours. This is unusual for the Sierra Nevadas. Thur. June 19th

"It has been documented in the past, particularly in western states, that NWS NEXRAD radar can detect chaff. What is that you ask? Chaff is a radar countermeasure used by military aircraft consisting of very small pieces of metal such as aluminum and barium. It can appear as narrow bands of reflectivity on the radar since they are dispersed by planes flying at high speeds along a path."

  • By this time it smelled weird outside. I felt like I should have been wearing a respirator.

  • These look like normal, run of the mill vapor trails.

Plus chaff, if my memory serves me correctly, doesn't smell like anything.

  • They are normal vapor trails as seen in Scottish Highlands. I live near two RAF bases in north of Scotland so I have seen them daily for a lifetime.

  • Interesting post. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who has experience with chaff since I have none.

It wouldn't shock me though if they were running some tests on effectiveness of the method. Maybe they're trying something new.
  • In NorCal?
Could you get a visual on the planes? What kind were they?
They look like normal contrails to me, but I definitely want to know more about this. What area/county were they in?

  • Contrails dissipate in a matter of minutes as the atmosphere cools the moisture leaving an aircraft. If you really pay attention and look up from time to time, you'll see many jets leaving contrails. Depending on their altitude, the contrails can last anywhere from a few seconds to minutes.

A chemtrail is indeed a different issue. Yes, I see this activity you're describing quite a bit where I live, near the Ohio Valley. Chemtrails are formed by high altitude aircraft, usually forming a grid pattern. In a matter of hours, the chemicals they dispense cover the sky like a mist. Depending on the barometric pressure, the content of the mist can form dense cloud masses, drop temperature, and yes cause weird smells.

They're planning on making it law, so one would assume they are practicing. I love how the professor in this video states "that's very odd, they could be very large contrails". Hmmm.. That's odd, lets jump to a conclusion. What the heck does a very large contrail look like? Thanks Professor.

It's not a surprise that Liberal_Extinction doesn't know this since his head is in the sand most of the time, and doesn't take the time to look up for more than 10 secs. Do a little research podge before you go swinging at yet another concerned citizen.

    Great pics and post BretByron.
  • I have heard of rumors regarding these "strange clouds" hovering over towns throughout the US.

"The Air Force has been testing out new technologies which give them the ability to control the weather."

I take this with a grain of salt, seeing as I have no back up information on the topic, but I digress. Just the thought of this happening is very alarming.

In Russia, sometimes it rains cement

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian air force planes dropped a 25-kg (55-lb) sack of cement on a suburban Moscow home last week while seeding clouds to prevent rain from spoiling a holiday, Russian media said on Tuesday.

"A pack of cement used in creating ... good weather in the capital region ... failed to pulverize completely at high altitude and fell on the roof of a house, making a hole about 80-100 cm (2.5-3 ft)," police in Naro-Fominsk told agency RIA-Novosti.

Ahead of major public holidays the Russian Air Force often dispatches up to 12 cargo planes carrying loads of silver iodide, liquid nitrogen and cement powder to seed clouds above Moscow and empty the skies of moisture.

A spokesman for the Russian Air Force refused to comment.

June 12 was Russia Day, a patriotic holiday celebrating the country's independence after the break-up of the Soviet Union.

Weather specialists said the cement's failure to turn to powder was the first hiccup in 20 years.

The homeowner was not injured, but refused an offer of 50,000 roubles ($2,100) from the air force, saying she would sue for damages and compensation for moral suffering, Interfax said.

  • I was talking to an Aircraft Pilot visiting us last night and he told me that that smoke coming up from the Aircraft it is actually water vapor and not pollution. Can anyone light me up on this.

Is that water vapor or pollution?

  • I'm not sure where I stand on this issue. I mean, one part of me doesn't wanna be the proverbial tinfoil hat kinda girl, and the other half thinks mayhap I should get myself an industrial gas mask.

  • i just saw something simular to this above my town in missoula montana this morning. i wish i would of had my camera it was definetly not a commercial plane and left a long trail

  • I was planning on getting a Russian GP-5 gasmask for airsoft anyway. Still, I really do think you guys are being just a tad paranoid. I'm getting tired of the UFO's, chemtrails, and HAARP "theories" on current. Lets try to keep this place a respectable news site and not just another tinfoil hat tabloid.

  • Hiya Dmitri *wave*

Trust, I'm shunning (for the moment) the tinfoil hat ... but HAARP ... please, if I'm incorrect, set me straight ... HAARP is detrimental to whales/oceanic life. Am I wrong on that?

And here's this ... waiting in my inbox when I awoke:
