Pelosi should resign as Speaker of The House

When Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House I was so proud that a woman was finally given this honor. I was hopeful that with her guidance much would be achieved. Then she stepped right up and said "Impeachment is off the table." What exactly did she think we sent them in there for? They may not have the numbers for impeachment, but we wanted hearings before it was tabled. Who knows after hearing the facts if there would be enough votes to impeach or not?

Almost 90% of the American people want The President, and Vice President Impeached now. It is an election year that usually makes our legislators vote a little more honestly, and she still holds fast to her off the table stance. Is it because some Democrats knew about things like torture and were complicit? Is it because they wouldn't look so good when the facts came out? I believe that is a very big problem for at least some of them.

They have just given Bush more money for his damned war, Given a free pass to the spying that he did, and allowed Bush to continue on without any constraints. It appears to me politics and covering their ass is more important than Justice or our Constitution.

I'm calling for Nancy Pelosi to resign from Speaker of The House and let someone in that will actually do the job take over.

  • If the FISA capitulation passes today, much of the blame rests on her.

This was a bill so bad -- giving the President power to tell people they can break the law -- that we didn't even allow it to pass under the Republican led congress. They had to wait for the Democrats to take charge before it could have even the slightest appearance of legitimacy.

  • Agreed 100% Marilynn.

  • From where I sit, she's been relatively ineffective from day one.
  • This woman is pathetic.
She needs to take herself off the table.
Maybe an impeachment hearing would open middle america's eyes to how truly terrible this administration has been.
Blow from intern > War Crimes, Election Fraud, False War....etc etc.

  • The only way to getrid ofher as House Speaker is to elect a Republican majority this November. YES WE CAN!

  • How did she get as far as she did with her lack of ambition? She is literally two heartbeats away from the presidency and Chenny has a pretty weak heart. If for no other reason than blind self serving ambition she should have gone after the Bush administration with all guns a blazing. Can you even begin to image what Hillary Clinton would have done in her position?

  • I'd rather think about what Dennis Kucinich would be like as Speaker. He would be a Champion for the people and the Constitution. He stood up firmly against the FISA bill.
  • They voted and about 2/3 voted to sell us and our constitutional rights out. We need to unload a bunch of people.
  • Yes, MM, a whole bunch.

  • Nancy Pelosi has turned out to be a great disappointment to say the least. Her appointment was such a historical moment for women everywhere, but I can certainly think of much stronger women whom could have performed this position far better than this milk toast we currently have. Her inability to stop HR 6304 the Hoyer/Bush FISA deal is the last !@#$%^%^& straw.
SHE HAS GOT TO GO along with all the BUSHCRATs whom voted for that piece of garbage.

  • This is a fact! I and some other people sent some letters asking her to help us out correcting the Public Transportation Acoustic Mistakes here in San Francisco and nothing has changed or been done! She sent back a nice letter actually asking for support, go figure?

  • Politics as usual...nothing but silly putty in the GOP's hands...trying to curry favor from across the isle... when are we going to see someone stand up and count for 'we the people'..?

Actually, Marilynn, your right Dennis Kucinich is THE MAN...a champion for the people...if he were the Speaker, a lot would get done...

For we the people's sake, for this great country, and for the world at large, we can't even have another republican majority, not for, at least, fifty years...how else are we going to straighten out this mess they've gotten us into...NO YOU CAN"T...

  • lol, when rabid liberals attack (each other)...

This is classic, a bunch of bloggers fueled by other opinionated and agenda driven bloggers thinking that they know all of the facts of what has gone on with the war in Iraq, Gitmo, Afghanistan, etc. Did it EVER occur to you people that GWB isn't the great satan that you people and hugo chavez say that he is? Did it ever occur to you people that your democrats are just as guilty of what you people call criminal action? We went into Iraq based on faulty intel and because of husseins countless incidents of chest pounding and repeated incidents of genocide against the citizens of his country. The problems in the middle east did not merely begin with GWB's presidency, they have been brewing and left un-checked by past Presidents including your fallen messiah bill clinton. It amazes me the amount of audacity the left wing has in this country thinking that trying to topple the Bush family simply out of ideological differences will "fix" what is wrong with washington. Republicans AND democrats are equally as guilty for the trash going on in this nation right now, the only 2 reasons obama even stands a chance of getting elected right now is b/c of his abilities as a motivational speaker and that he was smart enough to "enlist" the dumbest/ least motivated in society to vote him in. He's not going to fix washington or the united states he's going to send it to hell in a hand basket.

Oh yea, and someone should let pelosi know it's time for more cosmetic surgeries, her eyes look like shit.
  • Liberal_Extinction, We don't like what she is doing. We say so. Unlike Republicans that follow GWB like lemmings right over the cliff.
  • Liberal Extinction, the dumdest in society are those, as MM says, following the right-wing agenda, blindly like the jackasses that you are, over the cliff...

As for Obama, he is the only hope this country has right now of becoming whole again, of regaining its integrity...

Your excuse about the faulty intel, is just that, an excuse, pathetic, and proves you're just another brainwashed bushie gobbling up whatever they dish out to you...who sold the chemical weapons to saddam, rumsfeld? oops...that doesn't quite jive with your whitewashed view of this administration's lies that the rest of us find impossible to swallow...that whole scheme was dreamed up long before 911...

You'll not diminish the effort that true progressives are putting forth to recapture our nation from the clutches of insidious elitist pirates who wish nothing more than to line their pockets with the bounty they're stealing from honest Americans...

At least, we progressive democrats are not afraid to work on eliminating our weakest link...your whole chain is weak, but we're working on that too...

Bush will go down in history as the worst president in the history of this nation...there's no way around that...

  • Last I checked Plato this country and it's entire econmy was built by the blood sweat and tears of the "honest Americans". Capitalism and entrepreneurship have been what has made this country the international powerhouse that it is today. The only people that stand anything to gain by putting obama in office are the people that want something for nothing. They don't want to work for a better life for a family, they just want an increase in the size of their handout check. The other side that wants obama in office are the "peace at any cost" crowd, they don't believe in war and they are foolish enough to think that organizations such as al qaeda will disappear if the US makes nice with everyone and abandons it's interests in foreign oil. That may work for those of you who are content living on $2000 a month and riding your bicycle to work every day but guess what, those who truly keep the American economy moving aren't content with that crap. We don't all want to live in some over priced cramped apartment in a cesspool like new york or LA. Just because that shit works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone. There is more opportunity in this country to be successful than any other country in the world, those who aren't, just aren't willing to work for it. They find it much easier to latch on to organizations that give them handouts of excuses for their lackluster performance in life rather meeting the challenge head on and making a difference in their lives through hard work and educating themselves. Hell, I think it's high time we remove ALL warning labels from everything and start letting the stupid people cull themselves from the herd, sorry liberal attorneys, I know that would put you out of business, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
  • Nancy used to be my girl. But, I agree her ineffectiveness and " will take impeachment off the table" has really let me down. Alongside of the rest of Congress. Dump 'um all.

    More like Neocon_Extinction.

It's comin' baby. Whether you like it or not.

  • Liberal Extinction, your very narrow view of the world dicredits you from having any say in it, due to the facy that you're not mature enough...until you grow up, there is no discussion here, just your onesided approach to 'the way it is'...it's not the welfare recipients voting for Obama. It's the average everyday hardworking middle class American and others more afluent who are tired of the bush/cheney bullsh*t...

Amber is correct, the neocons are already sucking wind...soon to be caught up in their own storm of lies and deceit..."it's a hard rain gonna fall..." Bob Dylan

Obama will prevail to bring about true change in modern day society, eliminating hidden agendas and promoting more transparency in government...

  • LAHolly ... BINGO!

My personal votes would go for Kucinich/Boxer. That'd be House leadership that would get stuff done!

  • Wouldn't they be great? Two of the most straightforward honest people in government. Imagine that!
  • The straightforward honesty would put a lot of flim-flam riff-raff right out on their asses...then perhaps we could get some accountability up on 'The Hill'...No more rubber stamp congress...please...

Unfortunately, there is some very powerful orchestration going on far above the bush/cheney cabal...can you comprehend 'The Illuminati'..? They're all complicit in 911

David Icke tells it so well...

  • They would be awesome! A force to be reckoned with even!

I'm chomping at the bit, wondering who Mr. Obama will choose as his running mate.

Oh and, I think Edwards would rock as AG.

  • Amber, Me too. Please let is be someone everyone knows and loves. Russ Feingold is one I'd like to see him choose. I'd love to see Edwards, but he would be more effective cleaning up the Justice Department and everything else. All he wants is a jet ski.
  • Heh. Yeah, the jet ski thingy cracked me up.

  • Ralph Nader should be caged and fed through the bars.
  • Marilynn_Murray you really need to listen to this. PLEASE! Ralph was interviewed by Amy June 18, 2008. He is 'spot on' on every issue. He speaks about Obama starting at minute18:36. Obama is for FISA and against impeachment among many other right-wing agendas. Obama is not who you think he is. Every day he is pulled further right. "(Obama) is letting the corporate dominated city of Washington determine his agenda..." "(Obama) is suppressing himself repeatedly until he becomes another person".

  • I believe it is time for Senator Pelosi to hand in her papers and allow someone else to do the job as she has not been able to perform it thoroughly. Because of her actions, it is obvious the Senator has no interest in wanting the price of gas to lower. I believe it is in the fairness of all residents Senator Pelosi resigns now so two things can take place. One, we begin to drill offshore and two, find multiple alternative ways of creating energy domestically to eliminate obtaining it through foreign resources.
