If this were an Olympic event, China would certainly win another gold.

The Olympic torch relay has finished in Tibet with Government officials vowing to smash the Dalai Lama. "Tibet's sky will never change and the red flag with five stars will forever flutter high above it. We will certainly be able to totally smash the splittist schemes of the Dalai Lama clique." Tibet's hardline Communist Party Secretary General Zhang Qing Li said at the relay ceremony.

  • How can anyone still think that China doesn't violate human rights? China is a ruthless totalitarian government that continuously and systematically suppresses dissenting opinions and beliefs. This sort of quote from Chinese officials deserves the same outrage we seem to only express when it's too late, such as with the tragedies in Rwanda, Darfur, and Kosovo.

  • This was probably the worst idea on China's part when they're trying to look better.

Just proves that China's government is still as cruel and imperialistic as ever.

  • So why isn't this story being played more. Why is it that we are still being hammered with pictures of the devestation of their earth quakes. I hope that more people throughout the world realize what the Chinese government really stands for and what they are doing to their own people to achieve these bullshit Olympic Games.

  • What I don't understand is, how on earth are the Olympics being held in a country with a human rights record like China?

  • I remember everyone, we most stay calmed, we all most fight for our rights and for the rights of others.

    What comes around, goes around.

    Do not forget these occurrences.

  • what the hell are they thinking. most of its people(& i live in NYC and have the great fortune of learning from folks indigenous to the area & supporters of the Lama) hold the Dalai Lama in such high regard. Losing him would be a loss of unequivocal proportion, but it would empower the entire cultural. I honestly believe it would spark a revolution. Unite a global community. The non-violent movement would be in full effect. I understand that he has a far more reaching influence on the people. But its not like he wants to stop the momentum that china has been rapidly gaining. Time magazine did in article on him not too long ago. He embraces the modernization. He wants to see all of its people to have access to the benefits of the modern world. Proper Healthcare, Greater Education. I just dont understand why his removal would be even considered. There personna is going to be considered more monstrous by the global community than ever. Why is the world upside down? Someone help. Please.
