Mark Reitmer, 19, died in Wednesday in a rocket attack on his Humvee. He became the 500th Californian killed in these wars. Reitmar was scheduled to come home July 4 on a leave.
"We almost had him back," his father said.
The really sad thing is that this kid was only 19. When I was 19, I was in junior college trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. This kid went to another country and was killed by a "defeated" enemy in the Taliban.
"I don't blame the military. I am a military enthusiast," his father said. "I just don't know if we are making any difference over there. And if my son is No. 500, I don't want to see 501."
But these comments aren't shown in mainstream TV media. Instead, we see Cindy Sheehan made out like a crazy woman for protesting in front of W's ranch. Agenda?

Why the hell should California have to suffer for the foolishness of the US government? They shouldn't.

Poor father. That's got to be really rough to know your child died for nothing.
Thanks a lot, Bush.-

Someone dies and the blame game continues. It's a sad affair that someone lost a son who is 19.
It's sadder, still, that people think there is a good war to die in. -
I don't think anyone is opposed to surgical/intelligent military strikes.
Intelligent use of force! That's the keyword.
There is a world of difference between a surgical SWAT operation to take down a meth lab in a US suburban neighborhood and simply spraying all 25 homes with machine gun fire! And then dropping a ton of cluster bombs on top of the wreckage.
One is a INTELLIGENT and SURGICAL use of force that yeilds maximum results with minimum damage to either the police or innocent civilians and the other is bullshit.
The soliders (including the Generals) don't get to decide how they will be used.
In the above SWAT example the goal is to to eliminate illegal drugs. There is an intelligent/effective/surgical way to accomplish that goal -- and then there is the ass-hat retard way to accomplish that goal. If someone had phoned in a "tip" that there was a meth lab hidden in one of those 25 homes -- all 25 were burned to the ground and, oops, turns out we were wrong -- that doesn't seem very effective or intelligent. It puts both the cops and the civilians in extreme risk and is a total waste of resources.
What's our goal: to make America safer from terrorist attacks.
How are we accomplishing that goal: by 1) spending 1 trillion dollars destroying Iraqi infrastructure with cluster bombs 2) spending another 1 trilion personally rebuilding their infrastructure we just destroyed using US troops 3) moderating a 3 way civil war within Iraqi between three seperate and distinct enthic groups that can't locate the US on a map, can't speak English and can't afford the $1,200 plane ticket to come over here.
Getting shot while rebuilding a water main because one of the three warring tribal factions in Iraq wants to impress their local tribal leader isn't doing shit to accomplish our goal of preventing terrorism attacks on US soil.
Osama bin laden is reorganizing his terrorist teams (and training them) in Pakistan -- but this kid didn't get killed invading Osama training camps. He didn't get killed in a daring raid to stop Osama from buying nukes from North Korea. He didn't die storming the secret headquarters of 300 plus jihadists hiding in Syria who were about to detonate a dirty bomb in Israel.
Nope.
Retmier was killed Wednesday when a Taliban rocket slammed into his Humvee as he was patrolling in northern Paktia province. He was a medic assigned to Provincial Reconstruction Team Sharana. Petty Officer 1st Class Ross Toles III, 37, of Davison, Mich., also was killed.
So I can sympathize with the father who is now questioning, "How did my son's death make anyone in the US safer from a terrorist attack?"
How is it these people are still getting weapons like rocket launchers?
How is it that after we have "liberated" the poor oppresssed people of Afghistan that this movement is still able to recruit new members into the Taliban? -
Justifying good war vs bad war is pretty in words. But the fact of the matter is; dead is dead no matter the cause.
The pain is not altered should their son die for a different reason. The pain is the same. Maybe the phrasing of the death is prettier and they might feel good for stating it, but the pain of loss is just as strong.
It doesn't matter how their son died. Their son died. You can alter the way he died a billion times and not one of those alterations will bring him back.
War is horrible no matte the cause, no matter the thought, no matter the intention. it brings nothing but pain to a mother who lost a son.
Be it during the American Revolution or in WWII the loss is painful because even if your side wins the war you still lost. You still lost. Your son, your father, your brother is dead and no amount of cheering or parades will bring them back to you.
War is bad. Humans will never, ever be able to avoid it no matter who takes office in the political realm of the world. For there will always be someone who is vile and there will always be someone who is good. And the good will think it right to destroy the vile and the vile will think it right to defend their gross; and death will happen and a mother who housed a baby for 9 months, fed them, watched the walk, heard their first word, expected so much from them as way of greatness and grandchildren will lose their son for a cause she did not birth her son for.
There is no good war for no mother would ever think that such exists. For no reason is so great that one would want their son to leave this earth prior to them. it is not right to bury a child. It is not right. -
George W. Bush is responsible for the Iraq war and must be prosecuted for murder. There is a mountain of evidence against him. Please go to:

The American people must stand up to this
chicken-hawk rogue pResident or be doomed
to more and more death, horror and destruction.

Every US citizen deserves a fair and impartial trial. This would be a trial lasting years and could end in a mistrial due to the publicity surrounding it. I'd say lock him up without bail until the trial is over...
