if romance is about skewed perception and documentary is about objectivity, then this was the most obvious way to get over reuben.

This is a great story about relationships that I'm sure A LOT of people who watch Current TV can relate to.
First of all, I love your filmmaking. The music is like a character. The city's a character. I love the metaphor with the sign - "Even this sign has personality but it wants me to go away." I love the artsy shots of yourself, your emotional voiceover in the beginning, your sketching of the main character, Reuben, at his work in the hospital and on the phone in his house.
Your curiosity about the situation makes me curious too, but I should admit that since I know you, it's obvious to me that this guy should be worth no more to you than a piece of dirt under your fingernails.
(I wouldn't even want him as my doctor. I prefer to have physicians with a soul.)
But you are obviously a fantastic filmmaker. Do you feel like you can close the book on this chapter and put it on the shelf? Greatness awaits you, Judy.
Love,
Julie-

I don't think that internet dating is at all rational, it strips reality of it's serendipitous factor. The Documentary seems to convey a bit of OCD on Judy's part. Over-all from an artists point of view, it's creative, but the visual aesthetics doesn't deviate my attention from the deeper issue, and the issue itself is depressing....

I think you're well on your way to making great films. Just keep Ira Glass' thoughts on taste in mind:

I liked your story.
What I got from it is that you really want to connect with someone, you want to learn more about yourself through the lens of a person who - you will let in, someone who you will let get to know you intimately, perhaps sexually.
The fact you sought or were attracted to someone who was / is unavailable emotionally reveals the fear you had at that time of "going inside" emotionally, of letting someone in, of letting your boundaries down, making yourself emotionally vulnerable.
The real story is that you are preparing to step outside yourself - so to speak, you'll probably make a few missteps and then embrace your future as a woman.
I like the style and feel of the video and the quality of the editing. Nice job.
I'd agree with aschneider - but I'll admit I'm grabbling with "story" myself - which is why I just shot at you my breakdown of what I thought the real story was, as opposed to the version you gave us. What do you think?
Nice job and stay with it.-

Great film. Thanks for the tip Julie. Good god that guy was an ass. I’d like to meet him and offer him brochures on male pattern baldness. Then I could flick my bountiful locks all dramatic like as I turn a walk off. Yeah, that sounds about right.

I do like your film !!!!
and its great to make a 120 min film.
keep going you going well. -
This is a very good and artsy film. However did you just invent a new way of stalking? I would say the most obvious way to get over reuben is to just get over it and move on. But that would not have made a very good film.
