A member of an Iraqi city council shot at U.S. forces Monday outside Baghdad, killing at least three soldiers, two Iraqi Interior Ministry officials said.
Iraqi soldiers stand guard at a checkpoint Monday in Amara, where an offensive is under way against militants.
But the U.S. military said one coalition soldier and an "enemy" were killed and five others were wounded. The military said it is investigating.
The Iraqi official fired an AK-47 at U.S. troops after they entered the City Council building in al-Madaen, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Baghdad, according to one Interior Ministry official. The councilman killed at least three people and wounded four, a ministry official said.

I will say, when Iraqi goverment officials start killing service members, we are being invited to leave. Our hearts and thoughts should be with this young persons Family.

To hell with the geneva convention and the UN take the gloves off of our soldiers and let them do what they were trained to do or bring them home. Kill them all, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi, Jordan, Pakistan or get out. A Soldier

I've got an idea: How about we cut their funding, and THEN let the soldiers do what they want? If they come back, they're worth keeping.

How about we stop being the oppressive occupying force and get out of THEIR country.
Maybe the enemy is us. -
Jesus Christ on a Cracker! (i just felt like saying that)
Let's bring the Troops home. We can't do anything over there. -
Very sad. Even more so that they won't be the last. I'm going to put a bumper sticker on my car right now "Support The Troops", maybe that will help.

If your saying that in the way i think your saying it. Atleast it will show that your not a complete asshole
-
Voyarger,
Consider yourself one of the enemies that fuels their hate for us.

God bless america
God bless big oil

We can say that they can defend themselves. Now stop the occupation.

Time for Bush to pack up and leave for Mars with all his buddies, but firt it is time to pack up and leave Iraq. What a terrible situation this major asshole has gotten America into. Throw this BUM out of office already, before any more innocent people are killed. Leave the iraqi's alone. America now needs to help iraq but not with guns and destruction. Get our ARMY out of there and give these people the help they deserve after this jerk invaded and destroyed thier country.
-
Let Iraqi's fight for their own freedom like we fought for ours. It is way past time to come home.
-
I was in the Navy. I am not and never was for the Iraq Invasion. I was 100% behind the Afghan invasion. But you can bet your sweet bippy, I'm 110% behind all U.S. service members.

Bluestranger all I can say is I would have a hard time going to an illegal invasion of an innocent country and killing innocent people. I know I left for Canada when they wanted me to go to Viet Nam and do such a thing. I would leave the country again before killing innocent people for the whim of a few Bushies.

if US troops withdraw from Iraq believe me there will be peace in all the countries

In all seriousness the sad thing is that it will keep getting worse in Iraq no matter what we do, i fear. Bush has gotten us into a really hard place where just up and quitting is wrong, but "staying the course" is wrong too.
