Bill Clinton to assist Obama campaign

Bill Clinton will assist the Obama campaign to help ensure that a Democrat takes the White House in November. The Associated Press is reporting that Bill Clinton said through a spokesman, Matt McKenna, that “President Clinton is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States.” It is unclear what Clinton will specifically do for the Obama campaign, but some speculate that he might actively campaign for Obama. Throughout his wife’s candidacy, the former president was an outspoken critic of Obama, calling him inexperienced and incapable of leading the country. Obama has still not spoken directly with Bill Clinton.

  • It's on now! This is the dynamic duo we needed from the jump. Here's your dream team. Bill's got something he can work with now. It will be good to see the magic in motion once again.

  • It's important for ALL democrats to show their support for Obama. I'm very upset that some Clinton supporters have declared they intend to vote for McCain. Party loyalty to the Democrat platform should supersede all issues of race and persona.

  • Stay away Bill. McCain's republican cronies are providing plenty of questionable remarks and quotes that John has to explain daily. Obama's doing just fine. The republicans will self destruct old Johnny.

  • If Bill wants to help he should just fade away. He's not the same person he was as President.

He acts like a grumpy old man now. Watching him snap at reporters and jump down people's throats is not the Clinton I remember.

  • With friends like Bill, who needs enemies?

He had no choice but to support Obama if he and Hillary want to rekindle their status as the darlings of the Democratic Party.

  • He needs to make a public endorsement of Mr.Obama.Why is he taking so long.

  • Let's not get it twisted. Such support doesn't come without its fair share of disinclination, or ulterior motives. How else can Bill expect to help pay down the $22 million his wife owes without supporting Obama? Besides, it would be political suicide for the Clintons to do otherwise. Keep in mind, Bill also had a particulary bad case of FIMS (Foot In Mouth Syndrome) while campaigning for Hillary.

Bill couldn't help but jump on the race baiting bandwagon, by making allusions of his own both publicly and behind closed doors concerning Obama. it's for reasons such as these, I was totally against Hillary being considered for a possible VP candidate. Let's just say Obama would be wise to have his bodyguard do a bit of tea tasting before accepting a cup of tea at the Clinton residence.

  • I agree with BarkWay. Bill is being served a plate of crow with humble pie for dessert because Hillary's handlers peeled more foul plays from the political playbook than Grossman when the Bears got routed in their most recent trip to the Super Bowl. Hillary's scorching the earth to breach the political glass ceiling left Bill's populaity and Presidential legacy in a real pile of poo. All because Penn and Ickes were playing to win in November when they should have been playing to win the nomination to even run in November. The sad thing is that Team Hillary managed to rope in Bill and Hillary, and make them both behave extremely and embarrassingly badly, making party faves the personna non gratis amidst the Dems for months to come.

Obama might be too trusting on this one. In keeping these enemies close, Obama may want to keep someone close to the enemies, someone Obama trusts has his back. Bill is, without question, the consummate successful career politician. But, none of that is worth a fart in the wind if Bill isn't motivted by more than party engratiation to get behind Obama. if Bill really wanted to do this, he could have come out for Obama the way Jimmy Carter did sooner than now.
