  • Because, she is very lucky came to United States with approved Visa and attended school, and reached her goal. I'm glad to hear the story about her.

  • First of all, this particular piece should be posted under the deconstructionfilms user ID. This work would not have happened if it weren't for Jay Rymeski - he and I collaborated at deconstruction films to produce this pod. Honest mix up, but credit should go where credit is due.

    Secondly, the identities were protected because Houzan's identity is still in danger; even here in the US. It has NOTHING to do with the government wanting her identity hidden.

    Amazing pod, thanks for telling Houzan's story.

    Too often the work of translators and interpreters is underestimated. In fact, they play an essential role in the peacemaking process - and many pay with their lives.

    If you're interested in reading about these topics, I suggest "Translation and Conflict" by Mona Baker, one of the leading figures in contemporary Translation Studies.

  • Great pod. I know people who are Arab American citizens and Afghani American citizens that have chosen to become translators.

  • A song was released onto both the British and American pop charts several tears ago which as entitiled " Communication isthe answer to the Problem" and that definitely is the case. Communication between nearly everyone is available bt the introductio of competers in nearly every one of the societies of the world. Instant messaging is also another great feature as by the smart and timely use of instan messaging problems can now be averted even before they become problems.
