Congress passes new Iraq war funds

Why cant they pass some money to the workings of PEACE? Not some pidly chump change, but something as significant as this. America is putting its citizens into debt in a big way to back up the biggest lie in history. Perhaps the blodiest if this keeps up..here's a tidbit on the article:

The U.S. Senate on Thursday approved $161.8 billion in new funds to continue fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for the next year, without timetables for withdrawing combat troops.

The House of Representatives passed an identical bill last week. President George W. Bush is expected to promptly sign the measure into law once he receives it from Congress.

The Senate's 92-6 vote to pass the war-funding bill marked a victory for Bush, who has vigorously opposed any move by Congress to impose timetables for ending the Iraq war, now in its sixth year.

Democrats, who are the majority party in Congress, repeatedly had tried to set such dates, most recently with a House vote in May calling for troop withdrawals to be completed by December 31, 2009.

  • I do like to know more everything about this war, but accidentally, i am also a member of www.military.com and a Volunteer Intelligence too since 1999.

What i can not accept is the mere fact that there are plenty of abusers in the Philippines Government that destroy the true report and change it.... they even destroy the evidences and the true facts and figures that damaged the military pursuit...

How come they did not noticed that the problem is within those politicians that stole the names of the military people and sent destructive spies that almost kill many foreign military people in Iraq.

What if the report is fake and the true peace is already there and those people who work in the government destroy the real files?

I am one of those victims that lost many files in my own military account and found out that those greedy soldiers sabotage Iraq and US at the same time to have war.

  • Americans should vote out all current congress people and senators.

The are all failing to fulfill their oaths of office to protect and defend the Constitution.

  • U.S. lawmakers have a financial interest in military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, a review of their accounts has revealed. Members of Congress invested nearly 196 million dollars of their own money in companies that receive hundreds of millions of dollars a day from Pentagon contracts to provide goods and services to U.S. armed forces, say nonpartisan watchdog groups.

Lawmakers charged with overseeing Pentagon contractors hold stock in those very firms, as do vocal critics of the war in Iraq, says the Centre for Responsive Politics (CRP).

  • Touch Art....WorldPeace....all of you....I totally agree.....but the first hurdle you must get over is believing that your vote has ever been actually counted....from city mayor...to president....to president of the Lion's club....to class favorite in high school....to Pope.....voting is a tool to soothe the masses.....always has been.....but I am starting to see some unsoothed people....that makes me happy.....we could run the government here at Current......sell Washington to Disney........it would work out great.....the politicians can run the rides.......Golden Ruler.....Johnnie Hargrave.....

  • 96-2........ Hmmm, let me guess... the two against were NOT our illustrious presidential candidates? Did they even show for the vote? Unbelievable. They can fund THIS but children GO HUNGRY in this country. Well, screw them all. (Sorry, hope I can type that on Current because that is how i really feel.) And to those who actually think Congressional members on the whole or presidents really give a **** about oaths, they don't. That should be obvious by now. But nevertheless, people will flock to 'vote' one of them in again.

  • I am against the war in Iraq. Always have been. Always will be. What can congress do? We can't quit supporting our troops in the field. They are already dealing with the handicap of a commander in chief who is an imbecile. What do you think we should tell them, O.K. the wars over, see if you can find a ride home? I know everyone is worried about money but my wallet comes in a poor second to the hair on any service members head.

  • This will make a lot of people mad....I do not care....soldiers... when it is voluntary..... are people that have decided to make their life work.....killing or knowing that their job includes the possibility of killing.....they do not even know the true reason behind their actions.....if they knew the true reason they would all throw up at the same time.......war has taken on a whole new dimension...I have interviewed many older people and nearly all of them say that they can hardly live with the memories of their actions in wars they were forced to participate in......killing is not natural.....except when Nature does it...then it is just wrong place...wrong time.....never has been....never will be.....we have created so many future terrorists and tortured souls recently......why is that so hard to see?....Golden Ruler....Johnnie Hargrave.......

  • This is a good start towards following the money, in order to expose these criminals for who they really are. This is only part of the evidence that these people would really rather the general public did not know about, the evidence that will hang these people from the rafters... now we just need more exposire to this greedy hypocracy...the 'not wanting to look weak on defense against terrorists' excuse, as we now know, is just is just that, an excuse, for the underlying theme of 'how to increase the war profiteering profits...

We the People have just been seriously played once again...

maasanova, you get the Current badge for best watch dog of the day...that 101 class explanation, that even a baby can understand, is great...thank goodness we still have responsible upstanding legislators, such as Dennis Kucinich, (articles to impeach the president, GWB) just to cite one example, that will stand up for what we all believe in...a country of the people, for the people, and by the people, one that chooses its leaders for their integrity, their honesty, and their will to serve those who elected them, instead of serving themselves, that which the evidence of these last two presidential terms has shown to be the case.

  • When a nation if lead by fools who are easily mislead, the people pay the price.

The entire premise of controlling the middle east is stupid, wrong and only sets western civilization up to fall.

With these idiots running the country - we will go into another 'dark ages'. What fools. What pathetic fools. This ignorance and stupidity is part of a larger cycle.

Vote out all the existing "non-representative elected scum and replace them with new voices, new thoughts and new perspectives.

  • booboo Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Don't forget that. The war on terror is a total fraud from top to bottom and it's got nothing to do with being a liberal

  • booboo revealed himself within his comment. He/She is more conserned that a womans right to her own body is taken away. She must have the unwanted child. The fetus has a right to life, however after that fetus is born it has no right to healthcare, clean air, clean water, a living wage job for it's mother, a quality education or funding for the veterans who protected that fetus's right to life.
Now I see who one of the DDD's are that Carlos Mencia talks about.

  • "Lies that were told, to get us to go, war criminal let us be straight, let's get to the point where our voices are heard,... beyond the White House gate!"

These past eight years have been horrible! It has yet to get better in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the U.S., and funding the wars will only extend the "tragedy of war".
What gives the U.S.A. the right to "police" the globe? We are a 200+ year old country who has done some baaaaaad things! Political self-righteousness is nothing but selfishness.

  • George Carlin: Our nation was founded by slave owners who wanted to be free. So they killed a lot of white English people, in order to continue owning their black African people, so they could kill the rest of the red Indian people, in order to move west and steal the rest of the land from the brown Mexican people, giving us a place to take off and drop our atomic bombs on the yellow Japanese people. You know what the motto for this country oughtta be? "YOU GIVE US A COLOR, WE'LL WIPE IT OUT."

rip my friend...you had it right and gave us alot to think about! peace bro!
