Had to share this....
A German art project could help the British avoid the oppressive proliferation of surveillance cameras in their country. The I-R.A.S.C is simple, consisting of a circle of infra-red LEDs mounted on a headband. The infra red is invisible to The Man, but will cause CCTV cameras to flare out over the face of the wearer, obscuring his identity and making this the digital equivalent of a hooded sweatshirt.
This is not a production unit, but given that you'd only need a hat, a battery and a few LEDs, you could easily knock one up in the garage.
Spread this around (especially to our British friends...Banksy, you gettin' this?).

This will come in handy when the American government starts video survelliance. Hope the boys across the pond enjoy this one, and let's hope they don't catch on too soon.

nice.....now we just need to make it so that every type of camera is affected like this....
-
maybe even eventually you could mix this with one of those fulgurator camera things and make the recording device record someone elses face like a hologram over the face. hmmm... 1up.
-
As long as we can communicate there will always be loopholes and methods to beat the system.
-
Brilliant in it's simplicity.
Like Dmitri, I'm gonna pass this one along.
*bump*-

Hell yes!
Certainly makes me feel better knowing this is possible, and it doesn't even apply to me.
But watch, they'll outlaw LED lights...-

I'd like to see someone make an entire suit of lights.
Start freaking out the so called "monitors" of all the CCTV.
They would start reporting "glowing people".
Who would need monitoring then? -
Bansky is definitely going to need this, and for all of my other comrades our there in the Europe, stay strong and keep on moving.

anglcazn: Here in Minnesota they'd installed cameras to catch peeps going through red lights (they've since been deemed unfair, 'cause the owner of the vehicle may or may not be the person *driving* the vehicle) ... I seem to remember someone had come up with a contraption that went over the plate, leaving it readable to all except the cameras. Somehow a plastic cover distorted the plate information.
We'll beat them (The Man) at their games I tell ya.-

I understand the use for the cameras. And I know they had good intentions in the first place. But, now, the cameras are used as a way for the state to make tons of money. I've seen cameras go off when the person went over the line a little bit. They didn't run the red light. Bottom line, the cameras are used for making money.

Entirely agreed. Operative part of the last word in that initial [allbeit partial] sentence being *greed* ... pure and simple.

If you need to wear one of these, you're up to no good!! The best way to "Beat the Man" is just to live your life in a normal way!

For evry strike there will be a couter strike. That is just the way it is. Peoples desire for privacy is not only a desire but a human right.

I know i don't want people watching me for any reason! Good or Bad! I will always choose to remain anonymous. I suggest all americans take heed of this idea and learn how to build one. Big Brother has been there in the uk for a while and don't think it can't happen here! Im sure our government will say we need to heighten up security on terrorism in the homeland or some other lie and then implement cctv soon after. I mean they already listen in on our phone and internet and can track your moves with gps in your cars ( onstar...etc )!
