The NYT has a good article on the new partnership.
In essence, Google will act as a syndication platform for MacFarlane's new online cartoon, and will distribute it via their 'Adsense' advertising system, running preroll adverts or a simple 'Brought to you by...' message at the beginning of the clip.
The Family Guy creator will reportedly receive a percentage of the ad revenue for all 50 of the two minute clips.
Mr. MacFarlane, who will receive a percentage of the ad revenue, has created a stable of new characters to star in the series, which will be served up in 50 two-minute episodes.
