Nice piece. The writing is a little choppy and needs to be cleaned up in some places, but it was a pretty good read. This is my first time hearing of Nino Bless, but I'm going to look out for him from now on.
He said everything I've thought of Wayne, since I started really noticing him (which would be after I heard "I Feel Like Dying"), that I couldn't put into words. I've always felt that people said he was the best rapper alive because he said he was the best rapper alive. There's no real reason fans buy into it, they just do because that's what he said. And if you say something enough times, people start to believe it's true. I also never took him that seriously as a rapper because a lot of his lines were either laughable or just made no sense to me. He also loses points for creating words just to things can rhyme. Example: On "Phone Home", he says "And they cant get on my system cuz my system is the solar/I am so far from the o-thars I mean others..." "O-thars"? (His appearance on Kanye's "Barry Bonds" also comes to mind.) Really? That's not clever nor witty and shouldn't get you crowned as best rapper alive.
I would go on to say why I believe/agree that none of the rappers listed can be called the best rapper alive, but that would take up entirely too much space and I wouldn't be answering the question. In order to answer that question, though, there needs to be some kind of criteria to follow. Flow, lyricism, delivery, writing ability, blah blah blah, to name a few. I can do what the average person would and just name my favorite rapper, but then I'd be showing some kind of bias because I'd probably dismiss any rapper who doesn't sound like my favorite eventhough there's a decent argument that they're better than who I chose. And to be honest, I don't think there's really an objective way to choose the greatest rapper alive because people's tastes vary too much.
I'm starting to feel as though I'm writing a blog entry or an essay, so I'm going to wrap this up. I'm horrible at making lists. All I can do is argue whether someone does or doesn't deserve to be on said list, so I definitely can't say who deserves to be on top when considering their entire body of work. However, I will say that Andre 3000 doesn't always get the recognition he deserves and I would put him in my personal top 3. -
Common.

It is a toss up between Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. I would not want to rule out Blaze, Jamie Madrox or the Monoxide Child.

There are way too many rappers to list even a top ten best rappers alive. I agree that it is almost impossible to crown one person because people's tastes are too different. I could name my top ten, but that isn't exactly what this is about. What I will say is that there are a lot of underground rappers that deserve attention and a lot of main stream rappers that deserve less attention.
But I will leave it with a recognition of The Game. Everyone seems to forget about him once he was out of G-Unit, but he is certainly one of the best rappers alive.
And to refute an earlier comment I would like to say that Lil' Waynes creativity deserves respect and because his lyrics are not always serious doesn't mean he isn't an incredible rapper. His flow, delivery, and creativity will keep him around the top of my list any day. -
Old school rap is the only rap I listen to and so my choice would definitely be Rakim.
By the way Jay-z is nothing more than a edgy version of Will Smith. He's a joke. -
If Eazy-E was alive, we would not be having this discussion.
-
If RUN DMC was one person.

Okay the best rappers are the ones who can tell Vivid stories and stories that blow your mind. The ones that teach you something, ones when you hear their words you are like WOW thats crazy. The ones that can educate you.
here is my list (no there isnt one best, there will never be another 2pac)
-Trick Daddy
-Juel
-Immortal Technique
-Chamillionaire
-Ludacris
-Nas
-Common
-UGK
.... ( i know there is few more out there that I left out, add them if you can think of any mo')
These are some of the rappers that actually teach you something, educational rapper, true rappers, not like lil wayne ... what kinda rapper has tear drops on his face and raps about lollipops? and lil wayne talking about how he got shot, that stupid azz shot him self!! i hate bubble gum rappers. He also claims Bloods... millions of kids are watching him and some of those look up to him, instead of them picking up a book they will join a gang, I know he doesnt wana be a roll model but he has no choice, kids already looking up to him, but he can still change, hopefully lil wayne picks up a book and starts educating him self, him going platnum just means that there are a million stupid people out there, nothing else.
Lil Wayne also talks about poping pills and drinking codine, people overdose every day from taking prescription medication, this abuse has got to stop, its spreading to teens and even pre-teens because its being widly openly used on TV and in popular songs exposed to pre teens and teenangers that are listening to it and think its okay, they try it and get hooked, their life is going to be ruined if they dont get help, and most people are not getting the help and we are still lacking education about danger about these drugs in schools, and kids should be thought the danger early.
In VIBE magazine Lil Wayne said he had his first withdraws when he was 23 years old, he didnt know what withdraws felt like before then. He went to the doctor and the doctor explained to him.
To me, this just does not make sense. Lil Wayne was on a video talking about how he started drinking syrup, contains codine, when he was 16 years old, if he really did, he would of found out what withdraws were long before he turned 23.
That bitch is lying about everything, making it look cool to be a drug addict and spend all your money on diamonds, big cars, big houses...
I cant believe that these executives out there thats own him or own someone that owns lil ways are letting this shit play, people that are paying him to do this need to be called out, they cant use curse words on TV and Radio, but talking about poping pills and drinking codine is okay, and then have your muti million dollar artist like lil wayne making videos about it and posting it on youtube where kids log on to every day.
