55-year-old woman who advertised for an egg donor on a London bus has given birth to a healthy baby girl.
Linda Weeks, from Maidstone, Kent, and her husband Richard are the proud parents of Katy, born after 14 years of trying for a baby. The couple spent £2,000 on the advertisements before finding a woman willing to help them conceive. It was Mrs Weeks' last chance for fertility treatment, which cannot continue after a woman reaches 55.
The 50 adverts were placed on buses in London on 19 March 2007, the day before their 14th wedding anniversary, and included a photo of the couple getting married. The advert said: "We'll never be Mummy and Daddy unless a wonderful woman aged 36 or under can help us by donating some of her eggs. "You are our only chance of happiness."

I think this is really pushing it ... if the woman is not eligible for fertility treatment because of her age, certainly this means that there is a reason why she should not have a child anymore! I am happy for her that she gave birth to a healthy child, but I just don't think it is right that people with money should be allowed to 'buy' babies irrespective of their age and ability to care for them.

this was a little risky. most women over the age of fifty have heath problems what would happen to the child if the parents were to have health problems and die or cant take care of it any more

Dr.s think that once you are 35 years old you are high rick. Bull crap. There are 45 year olds in excellent condition, and 20 year olds not doing so well. Nature has taken care of procreation long before all these so called "experts" came along. Way to go. I bet they will be excellent parents.

although i can understand her feelings, i would say no.. im pretty sure there are reasons why women dont have kids after a certain age...
i mean she could have had a "malfunctioning" baby of the sorts....
adoption would have been a lot easier.. and SAFER
i mean u want to love a kid right.. does it really matter if it come from within you or some sort of facility
