Auto-replace changes Tyson Gay into Tyson Homosexual

The American Family Association’s OneNewsNow site uses an auto-replace filter to identify uses of the word "gay" in news articles, and replace it with the "safer" term, "homosexual."

Of course, it looks like they didn't think this one all the way through.

  • The timing of this story on the last day of Pride Month in the US is interesting.

    GLBT people have made significant gains in acceptance in the community at large but this is a reminder that not everyone is comfortable with the idea of homosexuality.

  • This reminds me of the guy who used auto replace in his first novel: His main character was originally called David, but the author eventually decided he was more of a Kevin, so he used auto correct. Unfortunately, in the book his character visited Florence.

    Someday I'd like to see Michelangelo's Kevin!

  • Number one, this is too darn funny. Secondly, has anyone explained to these folks that the typical american family is a myth or at the very least a minority. They have watched to many episodes of Leave It To Beaver. Get a clue. GLBTs aren't going back into the closet no matter what the American Family Association calls them.
