There is an initiative in the works that could end up on the November ballot that allows for marijuana to be sold to anyone, and anywhere that already sells alcohol. Its being called The Inalienable Rights Enforcement Initiative. From the full text of the measure:
This initiative will amend the Constitution of California to defend and safeguard the inalienable rights of the People against infringement by governments and corporations, providing for the lawful growth, sale, and possession of marijuana. Marijuana will be taxed through a system of stamps and licenses--a $5 stamp will be required for the sale of an eighth ounce of marijuana and a $50 annual license will be required for the growth of one marijuana plant. To protect participants and encourage participation in the system, such licenses and stamps will be available anonymously in stores where marijuana is sold.

Yeah, but is it going to be the good stuff? No one wants to be bothered with that seedy crap peddled for medicinal purposes. America wants the sort of Tijuana Gold that guarantees Lucy will have some 'splaining to do the next day!
-
California is on crack
-
Legalize it worldwide. Its just a fucking plant.
-
California is really paving the way in societal evolution...same-sex marriage-check. Legalizing Marijuana? Lets hope so.
-
So is California just going to tell the US to Fuck off yet?? We seem to be taking a stance on everything that the rest of the country is too 'stuffy' to. Next will be banning guns... yeah right.

The taxing element of the legislation should be something even the gov. can get behind. After all, that's been the hold up on legalization right.
-
Mother~Earth created such a beautiful plant! its so sad we cant freely enjoy it...together!
-
it's just like any other plant. They think everyone will be growing it if it becomes legal, but it's like with your vegetables. You COULD grow all of your own foods but not many of us do. They could tax the shit out of everyone if they wanted to legalize it and it would work well for their government. But not the companies within the government.
It would take thousands out of prisons and we could broaden our energy options. (hemp plants produce the best ethanol) and you can make biodegradable plastics and materials and ropes and stuff with it.
The good shit that you'd want to smoke isn't the same as the industrial hemp.
But smoking it is okay with me too.
Piff, you underestimate it, it's not JUST a plant, it's an amazing resource!
The rest of you- take the tradition and conditioned reality that's been shoved up up your ass, out! what you've been taught isn't your fault, but you have the ability to change. Please do it, the planet is depending on it. -
Wow! I cannot believe it! They fixed the commenting box. Now I can read everyone's comments without having to copy and paste it in an outside editing application. Hey guys the main posting box still cutting text on both browsers. Maybe If You guys smoke some more that will get fix too. Groove! -
Oh happy days.
-
hello... more $$$$ for everyone.

Just don't allow the corporatocracy to monopolize the market once weed is legalized. Let independent growers make some money to grow local economies, pun intended! This will keep the quality high! Yes, pun intended!
-
Some one has to make that first leap. Lobby, lobby, lobby! Alcohol and Big T are the ones that have been fighting this for years. They have the money to do it. Stop with the pot rallies and burnin' in public. Go Vote! Take action and take it back!
Can you say fuel, fiber, and more air filters! -
If the anti gay rights initiative makes it to the ballot, hopefully a large turnout of pot smokers will stop it from being voted through. Liberals in California have too many incentives to vote to not show up. It should be a landslide and I can't wait!
-
Anything the govt can make money from should make them happy. When you think about how many people grow it smoke it and enjoy it, that could wind up to be MAJOR BUCKS if the weed is good because if it aint no one will buy it and they'll keep using their own suppliers.

I still don't understand how the law of a land is allowed to put a ban on an all-natural medicine that has been around longer than any man-made institution, but at the same time they keep alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, aspirin, guns, etc. available to the general public. It's ridiculously sad to witness all the corruption, greed, and brainwashing going around in the world for the last 70 years.

good for us (weed), good for the economy (taxes), ITS A WIN-WIN SITUATION!!!

Moving to CA in four weeks. Can't wait. East coast is so stiff. I think the feds aren't getting FEMA involved in the efforts to stop the wildfires because they want all those beautiful plants to burn. oh Well, whatever efforts anti-marijuana legislators make, there's many more still planting, smoking, weaving, wearing and eating this wonderful plant.
