Just know this he has no real baggage so they have to lie. That makes me happy. I like that he is clean and decent.

he's bending a little for the middle, and that's something politicians do inherently. It's strategic.

But I wish he had not distanced himself from Wesley Clark's statements. I thought they were right on the money (that McCain's being a low ranking officer and shot down in an airplane doesnt necessarily qualify him for president).
Obama is doing a nicety by acknowledging McCain's contribution in the armed services, but he better not go too far with it or he'll wish he hadn't. Sooner or later he's gonna have to get dirty. It seems in American politics, nice guys finish last.

Oh we haven't seen anything yet. Just wait till after the Dem. and Rep. conventions are over with, and the campaign is in full swing! Then just wait and see all the republican "mud slinging" that will go on!! That's the only way they know how to play...

Everone here is right on. And General Clark was absolutely correct in pointing that out - totally valid point. That coupled with the fact that McCain can't remember enough to keep his information straight scares me. Good judgment is the key as far as I'm concerned. I wish Obama would take a stand on FISA and hope he doesn't keep leaning too far to the middle as it is disappointing - but with politics the way they are you can't make changes if you don't get elected. I have to believe that is his motivation right now. That said, I agree he's going to have to get tough because the right will use every bit of dirty ammunition they can make up..

Voters have good reason to put Obama's patriotism to scrutiny.

Was his opposition to bring down Saddam Hussein just a political move or because he believes that war is not the best approach to make peace ?

Have you heard anything worth commenting how he would defend and protect America beside that he would go after Osama ?

It is easy to make campaign slogans. People want to hear something substantial they can support beside false peace strategies that create even bigger wars later

Here we have obama the quintessential politician, where the only people that really know him are his wife,two kids and his pastor of 20 years. He says he's for "change" and he changes his mind daily, He stands for "hope" he hopes you dont find out he is a communist.

Come on people wake up! This is still the best country on the face of the planet. Obama is not a hero- he has no experience- all he is good at is rheteric...if obama becomes pres.no one will volunteer for military duty and he will have no choice but to reinstate the draft (18-28)year olds...when the next war breaks out.(Iran) It wont be me going...been there done that got a tshirt and wore it out!

Wait a minute! Obama is not a communist, nor is he a socialist! The fact that our government is so far to the right, everything slightly to the left seems to be communist to them. This is what the far right has been preaching! This is their Modus Operandi! We have seen this over and over thoughout the last few elections. I remember all the Democratic Party candidates for President being called Communist at one point or another. It's just another ploy to win the hearts and minds of the uneducated masses that have been endoctrinated by the elitist right wingers.

What is interesting is after all the failed programs of the Republican Party and, I might as well add the Democratic Party, we still haven't seen anything to benefit the common man. Everything has help the elite class or the upper 5% of Americans and this time around not even the crumbs went to the rest of Americans.

We really might not have a candidate that will stop the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan and I don't believe it will happen soon enough. However, if we aren't out Iraq and Afghanistan during Obama's first term in office, ( if he gets elected,) of course, I will feel cheated. He voted along with 30+ senators against the attack on Iraq and that is good enough for me. Hopefully we will get some sanity back in the White House.

As far as the draft is concerned, fine let them draft. We need to get the Senators sons and daughters to fight alongside everyone else if there is a war. Then they will think twice before they start one!

I think Winston Churchill said it best, "If you're not a socialist by the time you're twenty, you have no heart... If you're not a conservative by the time you're forty, you have no brain." You're all arguing from your hearts and out of a desire to do what's right, but you're young and don't understand that Obama's plans are just not fiscally responsible or realistic. In fact that's the problem with the democratic party as a whole. The current financial difficulties we're currently facing as a nation could have been avoided if the democratic majority in the house of representatives and senate would have put safe guards in place to deny mortgages to people who could not afford them. I shouldn't have to remind you that the legislative branch of our government is controlled by democrats who haven't fulfilled a single promise, or that they have a lower approval rating than Bush. Obama's policies are not those of hope or change but rather the exact same talking points coming from every other democrat. I'll admit that the guy gives me goose bumps when he speaks... but that's all he'll ever do.
