The offspring of rats fed fatty, processed food had high levels of fat in their bloodstream and around major organs even after adolescence. The animals had a raised diabetes risk - even if they ate healthily.
Studies by the same team have already shown that rats whose mothers were fed junk food during pregnancy and breastfeeding were more likely to crave similar snacks themselves.

OK, but how in the hell can a scientist tell when a rat is "craving" something? I call shenanigans.

Too bad we need studies to tell us this! Seems pretty straightforward. During pregnancy is the time when all the foundations and building blocks are being put into place. Every heard the old saying...loose a tooth for every child?

"What it does show is that this early influence from the mother is very important."
Early influence from the mother can also come in the form of a happy meal. If a child doesn't crave it upon birth they certainly will after their parents feed them one. Parents who eat fast food during pregnancy are more likely to feed that garbage to their children.

You are what you eat, and when you're pregnant, your baby is what you eat.
-
But don't eat babies...thats not what I mean haha!
-
ok, so it's either passing on the double-double and donuts, or smoking a cigarette. ahhh, the choices for the baby!!
it all harms people when you're not pregnant. -
What are these geniuses going to 'discover' next? Sh*t stinks, pain hurts, sadness makes you unhappy?
