Please come and check out my video where I will perform for you a song on my piano. This is the first time that I am making a "web cam" video. I tried to do a little bit with the sound to improve the original quality that I got from the Web Cam.
This song is about anger and people pleasing. It is about relationships that don't work because the people in it aren't even in touch with their true feelings.
I can't tell you about how many times I see people locked into a dialectic of anger and self depreciation. They are complete naysayers all the time, and once in a while someone will go out of their way to try to bring them a smile and some love. Sometimes that love becomes unappreciated and the person rages on the giver of love to such an extent that the two get locked into a toxic pseudo relationship based on fear of loss and forced intimacy.
It is codependency that becomes the addiction that perpetuates the merry go round.
My dear friend Penny and I wrote this song many years ago because at the time we were living through a chaotic time in our lives and this song was the expression of the pain we went through. It searches for the reasons people get so mad and the people that try to make them glad.
Thanks for the opportunity to finally get my feet wet with posting a Web Cam Video.
Feedback is much appreciated.

"Get So Mad" written by Penny Shipp & Jon Jaramillo
Performed by JUBAL
GET SO MAD
I don’t know what to do…
I can’t seem to get through to you
What do you want me to do about the things I see around me
Life is short they always say … but this night seems so long
I wish I was strong enough to take away the pain I see in you
I don’t know why you get so mad
I wish I could make you glad
I don’t know why you’re mad at me
I cried late last night
We had just had a fight
I wish that things would change
Why much I always take the blame
Where is your understanding?
That compassion I’ve seen in your eyes
Don’t you know that life’s no picnic for the one at home that’s cookin up the dinner
Chorus
Guitar solo
I cried late last night
We had just had a fight
I wish that things would change
Why much I always take the blame
Where is your understanding?
That compassion I’ve seen in your eyes
Don’t you know that life’s no picnic for the one at home that’s cookin up the dinner
Chorus twice
I don’t understand
Why you get so mad
Why your mad at me -
This is my music web site on MySpace. If you want to check out my studio recorded songs. Let me know what you think if you check any of the songs out.

I am really impressed. Listening to the song made me smile, even though the song is not really about anything happy. It seems the more you push people away that like you and care about you, the harder they try to get closer to you and make you like them.
-
Nice job Jubal.
-
I think you're fantastic, Jubal, and I love the lyrics, and your rationale/motivation for having originally written the song.
But, this recording is horrible.
So, by way of encouragement, find someone to help you produce a better recording. It will be worth it, because YOU and YOUR MUSIC are worth it!
You have talent. Go for it, my friend!-

Bravo Jubal! (Applauds) Great lyrics with a purpose (Stands, Applauds). Bring it into a studio and do a duet with a lady...and add some other verses to accomplish that. just my input..thanks Jubal for all you do here on Current.

Jubal. Nice! your song "Faithful love" like early Roxy music. you have a great voice.
-
Hey you guys are so kind, thank you so much for all the love. This song in particular really gets in my heart because I try to be a peace maker in all my relationships. Sometimes, on this website, my blood gets boiling when I read about oppression and evil things being done in the name of this country that I have loved so dearly. I am grateful for freedom, I am grateful for life, but I am not grateful for the lying, manipulating, and fear mongering that is going on.
The current state of the world, and all the potentially bad things on the horizon is enough to make anyone blow their cool. And the sad thing is when they take it out on the people closest to them.
Faithful Love is one of my favorite songs as well. Love and suffering do go hand in hand. Those who have suffered much love much.
I think it was Khalil Gibran who wrote in "The Prophet" something to that effect that suffering carves out greater spaces for love to dwell. That was my inspiration for writing Faithful Love.
I have that one in Spanish too. -
Jubal....don't keep this to yourself any more.....I agree with my little buddy....Hitler's Moustache....please get a small camera....you need help....we will kick in.....you are too dern handsome to be a hiding behind that icon picture.....also start doing some talking points....kinda like Keith use to do.....tribulations and adversity.....make humans strong.....if and when they overcome them.....if they don't overcome them....it usually makes them drug addicts....alcoholics.....that is why when you look at most people's ancestors.....they had more character....personality.....likability.....kinda seems like we have taken and gone the wrong direction on the path........wish people could learn from listening to old wise people......or just listening period....two ears....one mouth.....listen twice as much as you talk.....Golden Ruler....Will....

it's a cool song about some troubled relationship where one party always keeps the other at some deliberate unloving disadvantage ala "...why must I always take the blame..." and "...where is your understanding..." is it born of real pain and heartbreaking personal experience Jubal? How personal? And does it still hurt so bad? ;) Or have the scars made you a better man?
-
Jubal, thanks for putting your art here for us to share.
I think you have a very good voice, and I love a piano player! ;)
The song resonates with me as well, as I am sure it does for so many.
"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." Khalil Gibran "The Prophet"
ps: I checked out your myspace, that music your have recorded is amazing! Thanks! -
Jubal: This was wonderful. I never would even have seen it had I not ventured to the back of the pack here. This surely belongs up further! Thank you for your insight into who we are as inhabitants of this planet. If you ever want to do a duet I've been known to carry a tune pretty well. ;-)

Nice work man!
Thanks for sharing. -
jubal, it's good to see the softer side of you...what a catchy tune with great lyrics... It serves to remind us all of just how human we are...
To ere is completely human...to forgive, absolutely devine... but to maintain a path of complete idiocy, is absolutely unforgivable... maybe that's what gets us sometime...the greedy idiots
Nothing like a nice tune to soothe the troubled mind... I'm impressed...-

An Ode to You
The body aches,
the soul weeps,
and the mind yearns for completion.
We search in every eye we meet,
for the half we seek.
From one came two,
and the two look to be connected again.
To become a dynamic being,
transcending pain and sorrow.
In vain attempts of desperation,
we pick anyone close and try to become one.
Trying to fool ourselves into fufillment.
The flesh merges and detaches,
like a faulty electrical outlet.
But the soul stays caged, and never touches the other.
Tears form into diamonds,
and frustration flourishes.
The promise of perfection keeps us going.
and we never stop our search until we've found
one that our essence dances with throughout eternity.
When we do find that shining light within another.
The world stops on its axis,
the people stop screaming,
the stars stop pulsing,
and an explosion of ecstacy and color
occurs from within.
We are forever transformed.
The beauty of the world shows itself to us.
The long days of conformity,
are no longer a burden.
We fall and never bruise.
And the only way to express this love,
is with your wondrous smile.-

You've got rhythm!!! I can be an angry person, yoga helps though.
-
Jubal... VERY GOOD! the piano comes through very clearly but the microphone didn't pick up your voice nearly as well. balance those two somehow, and your work will be even more dynamite!
thanks for sharing your feelings. it helps both the sender and the receiver. -
Wow, jubal! Very impressive! I have to agree with some of the other posts on the thread... it would be great to hear a higher quality production of your song. :-)
-
Chiming in with my two cents ... yeah, what everybody else said.
Catchy tune, upbeat even. And good therapy to vent your frustration creatively.
Voted 'up' my friend.-
