In this article Multinational Monitor lists The 10 Worst Corporations of 2007 and poses the question, Does the public not trust big business, and equally distrust the government to constrain corporate power or are they miss led as to what is being done? Its hard to say, but what is easy to say is the people want restraints on the corporation and the government should be eager to help.

  • Both of these are currently in control of our country. I don't trust corporations and the government to an extent. Currently, big fat corporations such as the ones named have used lobbyists and bribes on our politicians to make laws and bills within the interest of the for-profit company. Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of a capitalist state. But it's unchecked and the corporations are out of control.

Example, Bush signed a bill into law saying the government will pay for most of the medications prescribed to the elderly. Who doesn't want to help the elderly before their departure on this Earth? Problem? The bill was backed by the pharmaceutical industry. In the end, they get all the profit they want.

With the corporations out of control and the government aiding in corporation take-over of this country, it is easy to say that the corporation and government is very hard to trust. Especially with how things are being handled right now.

  • Apt description, and well written. Of course the bill was backed by the pharmaceutical industry, they want us all nice and drugged up and pliable when they come up with another "great bill" to help someone else. It seems it's easier to get medicated than to get actual help for certain problems. Say someone needs physical therapy and can avoid surgery, NOPE, we'll give them surgery, THEN physical therapy (we just won't tell them they can live without it). And of course, after surgery they'll need antibiotics, pain meds, more antibiotics, and another check up afterward at which they will need another med of some kind or another. I know this isn't accurate for EVERY physician and hospital, but unfortunately it is the majority.

  • There are times in our country's history where Government and Big Business have worked together for the common good. This Administration has in effect given free reign to Big Business to exploit the common good in their own favor. History has proven that this inequality will eventually level its self out, unfortunately, we will be far worse off than we ever have been before.

Right now Oil, Insurance, and Pharmaceuticals control our Government, only because our current Administration support them. It's our fault, we have allowed it to happen. We question very little, and require no transparency in our Governments actions. It is our responsibility to provide oversight, our government is our employee, they work for us. As an employer would you keep an employee you can't trust?
