Delving into the world of pre-teen "ho culture", with examples ranging from toddler shirts reading "Baby Porn Star" and a pole dancing instructional game, author Kathleen Parker asks why this overt sexuality is being exposed to (or maybe, forced on) young girls.
But more than asking why, Parker asserts that it is the male gender who is being hurt. Being exposed to sexuality in members of the opposite sex from such an early age will surely muddle boys' sense of sexuality as well.
"Once women sexually objectify themselves, it becomes harder to insist that others not."
Who is to blame for this trend of making little girls sex objects? Is it a serious problem, or harmless fun? Who is suffering here - our sons, our daughters, or both?

i wish i could blame this on the media, but im not sure thats the case...when i was in my teens we didnt have the celeb craze like lindsay lohan and jamie lynn spears for example-- girls who i grew up with acted like this too. i remember a friend gave another friend a bracelet that said skank and she wore it with pride... there has always been a yearning to grow up fast...especially in the past few generations. if i had to place blame on anyone, it would be the parents...

Ick. Maybe the girls will realize it the more that attract pedophiles? Make them watch Dateline's To Catch a Predator to get turned off this.

I think this is a great development. We have always been very sexual at any age and in any culture. I don't think that this is different than before. What this seems to be is the emergence of a new fashion that romanticizes femininity instead of virility. It's the swing of the cultural pendulum in a society that has held virility as the standard for a while.
Also, why should this be a damage to boys? I think it is just our cultural prejudice that dictates that genders should be perfectly separate and exclusive, and noxious to each other. This is true only in our minds, not in actuality.-

Woman have gone past equality, and are now becoming to dominate men.
Turn on the TV News all you see are woman, and the men you see are probably gay. -
And you wonder why the divorce rate is over 50%?

It's true. it's bizzare that girls as young as 6 and 7 are wearing more makeup, shorter skirts and higher heels then most street walkers. The media does play a huge part in the sexualization of young girls, but not any more so now then 50 years ago. The only difference is that divorce is extremely prevelant in society and now instead of young girls getting normal, healthy affirmation from their fathers they look for their affirmation and selfworth in men. Thats whats different between back then and now. The men are the protectors of their daughter's sexuality when the fathers are gone the girl is left fo find that male bond with whomever she can get. A man lured by the body is only interested in the body. now some of this is just good old fashioned fun....everyone wants to feel beautiful and sexy and adored...but its transgressed from normal to flagerantly destructive behavior and if something doesnt change what we'll have is a bunch of broken and hurt little girls. and i bet theres not a woman who could say theres not a kernel of truth to what i'm saying.

Nice article...Let's face it, men are suckers...and women are taking advantage of it to some extent...And marketing directors are taking advantage of this phenomenon even more...
A woman's challenge in life is another woman...Do what she can to look as good if not better, feel sexier, more attractive than the girl next to her...
A man's challenge in life is a woman...Try to process all those signals they are bombarded with non-stop everyday...
In such a sexually frustrated country, seeing younger people being used as a way to convey some kind of sexual tension is not that far-fetched of an idea...-

perhaps even more alarming is the 40 something, well-educated "new" mom, who'd never be caught in anything but capris pants and sensible shoes dressing their daughters like little hoochies. What's up with that?

Hmm. I wonder why most females are becoming so incrdedibly sexual...Maybe it is because as a country we are losing our morals, faith, and respect for ourselves. With the radio playing songs that speak on many explicit acts a young girl wonders what to do. Take action and shake her booty or stand up for herself? Then she faces the question if she will still be respected by her friends. In the ends it all boils down to the fact that times aren't what they used to be.
