  • THis is a super interesting and pertinent pod. I give it a green light.

For the future, I'd say you have your audio levels tight and your sense of story telling is solid, but you need to watch your white balance and exposure. It's nice that one can completely see your subjects while they are being interviewed, but you dont want to overdo it or it looks like low budget TV. I'm not sure what camera you are using, but I would recommend trying to work with the natural light. It humanizes things. Your piece often looks a little too bright or over-saturated, and in one outdoor shot the natural light completely turns green.
Also, I'm not sure if the home video bits are your cinematography, but they could do with being a lot less shaky (for the future, obviously not something you can rectify now!).
The accepting of the vows bit could maybe use some subtitles, since it's hard to make out, and the music that comes in there should be much more emphasized to build excitement with the couple. The audio on the bride immediately thereafter is also too low.
I would also get a more legible, less topic relevant font for your subtitles. In de-editorializes the piece somewhat.
That's my completely personal film making two cents.

    On another note:
I think its super interesting how effeminate he is. I would, in other circumstances, assume he was gay by his personality. Maybe that's a fault of mine.
It's also interesting how bitter yet wildly intelligent the third girl is. As a non-Muslim, it makes me wonder if that sense of judgmental bitterness is a cultural or personal thing.

  • It's very nice to see the Muslim-American custom in play. It's amazing to witness a centuries old tradition still being practiced and still working well in today's society.
