My view on clean coal not being safe and to reiterate that if we truly want to bring ourselves into the 21st century, solar power is the answer.

Nice Jan, thanks-
-
you Rock Jan! You got it! We are on it. I hope our neighbors get excited about solar as well.
-
With you Jan!

From the video, "Anything that puts CO2 into the air the ground or the water is not safe for humans or other species."
But what about that tree you said you loved? It pretty much needs CO2 to photosynthesize.-

I was talking about fossil fuels In regards to "clean coal" technology in regards to climate change. I think that was pretty clear. Burying it regardless of where it is buried is not safe for either the atmosphere or the water in those concentrations. So sorry I didn't have time to be more specific and I don't mean that to be sarcastic. I didn't want it to go too long because I think people will lose interest in what you are saying if it does.

Thanks, JanforGore, for once again, speaking truth to power.
Love the shades. -
Carbon dioxide is "invisible dirt"and although essential for plants (just like real dirt), carbon dioxide is dirty. The only 'clean coal' is UNBURNT coal. Let's keep coal that way: in the ground and out of our atmosphere.
Solar is very important. Wind is important. Wave energy is important. All of it. Get going america.
Oh, yes. More trees. everywhere. (maybe not on the surface of the ocean) -
amazing amazing...speak your mind!
-
Thank you! I want solar panels on my house.

I am for clean coal, nuclear power, solar power, wind power, fossil fuels, hydro-electric, and whatever else we can use. It is easy to say that we should get off of "the grid" and never do anything to pollute the atmosphere, stop using carbon based fuels, and only use "green" renewable energy. The fact and reality is, people are going to do whatever the hell they want. I really would love to se the Earth to be clean and pristine, the reality is we live in a dirty world that has a high energy demand that is growing exponentially at a rate that could soon reach a crisis level.
-
If the situation, today, is not recognized as a "crisis level," I am afraid that we will never recognize any crisis. When the MTV goes off the air, it will be far too late to do anything to fix the situation.
If I seem strident, I apologize, I'm no tree-hugger, but I don't believe big business will save us, either. -
The sun is all

Awesome Jan, Love to see you talk on camera. You are challenging me to do more of the same. I am going to be more active in posting reports and video in the future. You give me courage.
-
Hells yeah Jan, wham bam thank you maam. I am amazed at the words being used in the same sentence overs and overs and people actually thinking it makes sense.
The words being "Clean Coal", of course. I mean have these people seen coal? How the hell are we supposed to get anything clean burning that shit. It's a pun and a conundrum, if it's possible, I'll shit a brick and eat it. -
Looks like your camera man had something else on his mind...... Anyway, what is the deal with clean coal??? Isn't that a complete oxymoron. Or is it just clean-ER than usual, but still awfully gross.
-
Thank you for all of the comments.
Touch Art: You speak truth to power as well and that is appreciated. And yes, I can't go anywhere without my shades. I really enjoy being in the sun ;-).
onechance, twodee, stopnoise, shroomfairy, dagos, LogicalOctopus: Thanks and let's hope these words reach many and let's keep on the solar road. Thankfully my state as well as others are now seeing the benefits of looking to the sky. We have to keep that momentum going!
jahbini: Talk about truth to power. So well said and so true. Thank you.
lizzism: Thanks. I never was one for standing in front of a camera... but this is more important than that to me so I will continue to do it and I am just grateful we have Current to do it. (Thanks, Mr. Gore. Had to get that in ;-).)
mjsmith11: We are already at a crisis stage because of dirty energies. We need to wean ourselves off of them and find cleaner safer ways to get energy. It is also a national security issue.
jubal: It takes a couple of times and you then don't feel so inhibited. I'm going to try to do a real pod next time on the situation in our food pantry and the effect of the economy on it. Having a medium to get these issues out really is great. Hopefully it will make a difference.
mafioso: Lol. yes, surely the marketing people of big coal can't think us that naive.
ipodrulz: Yes. My teenage son was having a little problem... a pretty girl walked by and his attentions were torn. lol. That's why I smiled at the end and took control. But hey, that's what citizen journalism is all about. ;-)-

This is a story that keeps getting told. And I never get bored with it. For decades, there are other ways than the big corps would have us know to live. Keep up the light.
-
You are are worried about co2 what a bunch of nonsense, Co2 is all around you do you realize how stupid that sounds. As far as the government mandating solar I say HELL NO!! If it is the best technology people will use it. If you had your way this country would come to a secreting halt. The majority of the country rejects this crap.
-
Wislogger, what universe are you from? Certainly you have no idea what you are saying! Do you not read the scientific journals? Do you not even keep up with what this world is coming to? What an ass!!!

There is no such thing as Clean Coal.
For a plan outline to get rid of coal, go to "Breaking The Chains"

hello, jan. if that park were in pittsburgh, which is where i live, we'd be shocked at the fact that we were having a sunny day. we only get like 50 sunny days the whole year. thats a lot of time without energy. i wasn't aware the united states had the same kind of climate as australia and kenya, one that gets ample sunlight all the time. you need to think before you make videos.

LowFlying (More like LowThinking)... That is why you would need additional grids and generators to store backup energy that run off fuel cell technology... However, this can only happen if we begin investing in solar energy and using it on a daily basis to begin to see what works and what does not, and how we can improve on those energy sources.
The point is to start investing in them now. I seriously doubt we will get rid of oil completely in the next ten years, however we can develop more efficient ways to use and store energy whithin that time.
I think oil will be obsolete when we make these changes a possibility for all Americans, rather than just the middle-upper class. -

Those are two links that provide some information concerning the technologies being researched and developed to help solve the issues of areas which do not receive an immense or constant source of sunlight. -
We can easily get rid of coal and most of oil within ten years.
Here is how:

LowFlyingJets: You don't have to have the arrays IN Pittsburgh to get the power from the grid fed by the sun. I suggest you read up on this before thinking to judge anyone else's knowledge on this subject.
