"The Labor Department said on Thursday that 62,000 non-farm jobs were lost last month, bringing jobs shed for the year to 438,000 as a housing market crash chilled growth."

I'm sure good ole Georgie will fix this
-
A lot of families are struggling to pay their bills these days.
-
And the price of gas is surely not helping.
Greece has a higher unemployment rate. -
Liquidation has become the new growth business in this economy. I gave the last 10 years to Levitz Furniture and they are now among the dead. Some retailers are fearing that this Christmas might be the worst in over 15 years and may not survive past the season. The job loss count has only just begun, expect to continue to see it grow through 2009. The election just won't be enough to repair consumer confidence and too many companies are in such debt (many come due in 2009), they won't be able to make it up even at 100% sales increases. If you have a job that pays the bills, hold on to it.

At some point America is going to have to do two things:
1) Increase wages for workers (who are also CONSUMERS!)
2) Actually manufacture goods instead of just selling them
You can't run an entire economy on $8/hr service sector jobs and credit cards.
You need actual wages and actual manufactured goods. -
I have been out of work for 5 months. I have been looking actively for 7months now.I have 2kids and a husband. Now he has been able to keep us a float, but my income is needed for us to swim. I have 10 years of management, and still can't find a job. No one want to pay real money, and there are 20 people for 1 job. So unless you have an inside connection, it's hard to get a job. Then trying to find a work from home job has been a crazy event. There are so many scams, I have given up.
It's not like to old days, go to a company; give a resume, maybe an interveiw, and be working with in a week. Now everything is done online, and you can't even call to check on your status. Then when you do call it's like"I didn't call you so why are you calling me attitude.
Maybe I should just start my own business, with no money?
Please no more REPUBLICANS!!!!!!!
I haven't had a GooooD job since Clinton. -
HA, ha, ha. Now that I think about it; I'm glad I'm over qualified for meanial labor.

I find it amazing someone can count job losses. My unemployment lasted six months. Did I stop getting counted as a job loss after my unemployment ran our?
I believe the financial troubles come from $1400 mortgages. and $1000 rents for people with $7 per hour jobs.. -
It's not a matter of standing up for him----but it's tiresome to see the lame people who whine and constantly blame people for their plight instead of making the best of a bad situation.
Blame cannot fix your life.
It can, however, make you feel worse. And that's what the blamers are good at; making things worse. -
Who do we thank for the 13 week extention,my unemployment will be running out around christmas.
I've been out of work for 16 weeks and countless
job interviews but noby has called. This is the start of the great depression (another one). This time people will
revolt for a change of power this goverment IS NOT
WORKING for the people. We can expect the unemployment rate around 10% with starving people
living on the streets, something has to change. -
I don't put blame on anyone, i calll how i see it. I know that before 2000, it was easier to haggle pay rates than what it is now.
Anyone can find themselves without a job at anytime. The problem is the turn over rate at some companies are so high and they don't to pay their long term employees salaries so they find bullshit reasons to get them out of there; and replaces them with someone they can pay half.
How can you tell a person that you had too many bounuses for an increase in salary?
Every bar met and passed and still nothing!!
What would you do?
